Also I figured a Righteous Fire/Flameblast all-in on fire res build seemed good. But if you do that you can't have flameblast in your searing touch (need dat rise of the phoenix or w/e)

Combined with the promised shadow buffs (since they said that most "shadow" builds are just better as scion which is true) means some nice tree changes to theorycraft around :D

Only reason to go NE is for ES or crit nodes.

I wish they would make claws not able to roll shit like mana and whatnot. Then claws might actually be a decent build too which would be nice for shadow.

- As soon as I saw the passive skill tree, I wanted to play a staff-blocker-evasion kind of character. I chose a templar, and think I've got a decent idea as where to go passive-wise. Mind you, I'm aiming more towards beating the game than doing it quickly, also only been playing solo + no trading. What confuddles me is what attack to pick up to complement the build, I've been using Sweep, Heavy strike and a bit of Cyclone so far... Any tips on what could complement my theme? Maybe Frenzy multistrike? - Playing around more with the passive tree, I got the idea for a melee-freeze character, like, hit a bunch and freeze a bunch so you take little damage. However I'm not sure what skill would be most fitting for it, Cold snap requires charges, Ice nova might be too little single target damage, Discharge maybe as mentioned above? Or the frozen hammer + AoE? So far it's been a very fun game, but running on a 32 bit system sucks, map overload all the time :/

Melee freeze is viable. You just use Glacial Hammer + Elemental Proliferation (or melee Splash, or both). The problem becomes links because you need Glac Hammer, Ele Prolif, Weapon Elemental Damage, Melee Physical Damage, Multi strike and thats a 5-link WITHOUT blood magic or life leech or faster attacks or melee splash. So yeah... Basically doable but you need good links which is expensive (aka hard for a first character). Have you unlocked scion yet? If you have, consider playing a 2-hand spectral throw character (any class, just mule yourself spectral throw) to get a feel for the game as that is pretty much "easy mode" ![]()

If I understand you correctly though, it'll be hard to get the stat points for using high level staves while going for Avoidance and the like?I have Spectral throw on my witch, and it is indeed very good when I don't just use the mega-fun spell Storm Call, or Freezing pulse for survivability. Also, what are the actual differences between Dominion and Standard League? like, I guess only the teamplay? Edit: Speaking of the Witch, is there a way to keep doing "diverse" spell damage? As mentioned, I really like Storm Call, as well as Freezing Pulse, and a bit of Flame trap and Spectral Throw vs Elemental resistant... Googling it, the answer was no, just go for one school, but...

Standard: Doesn't have shrines. Thats basically it. Domination is "ending" and the characters merging into standard in 9 days or so.

The benefits of the vast majority of shrines are decidedly "meh", and some of the stupider ones (thorns anybody?) are going to cause unecessary HC rips simply because you cant get close enough to the shrine to see what it is without getting mobbed by enormous packs. Also I accidentally grabbed a divine shrine yesterday when a buddy had only that one left on his challenge (I already have the challenge) ![]()

It would solve a lot of problems. Also, here's to hopefully getting a Witch equivalent of Primal Spirit/Versatility with +20 Str/+20 Dex.
