2nd Mara in the 1h turbo just now... god damn, i died 4 min in and lost probably 5-6 min

Goratha wasnt that far ahead T_T... 5 minutes would've been enough to catch up, shit happens :D

Meaning #14 overall, close to lvl 17 (had a pack just in front of me which would've leveled me ._.)

Wouldn't have imagined that i was SO close to a demi, lol. I killed Merv at like 45 min and rushed to Sins level 1.

Lol.. that was just bad. I rolled a cleave duelist and didnt find a single weapon until I was almost done at Ledge so my clear speed was terrible. And then I had to log at the end of coves because I was about to get stunlocked by rhoas, and because the ship graveyard wp was at a weird location I didn't find it so I got reset to the prisoners gate.. so that wasted a solid 5 minutes running back. Ended up just farming the caverns twice because I wasnt sure if I could kill Merveil with my gear, and I would only be in act 2 for less than 5 minutes even if I did. Still ended up at 200k exp. Rofl. was around 15th duelist and 50th overall somehow, definitely thought i was doing worse than that.

#6 overall #3 duelist. Pretty decent race, had some bad luck in the prison so didn't drop the lvl9 evasion armor, nor did the vendor have it in stock so I ended up speccing into the 2 evasion nodes that makes you run faster with armor since I really needed the evasion vs Brutus. So with some really good rng considering my low evasion and firetrap kiting I only had to tp out once.

Also tried sins this time. Honestly, hard to say which is better if you have quicksilver. If you don't have a quicksilver sins is by far superior. Although some bad rng with the rooms can really screw you over, but in Fellshrine you can just run away. Ended with a huge archer room first thing I saw with 2x ressers. And in the next room I had 2 rare spiders, one with ES aura, and other one with damage aura. So even with some good yolo'ing I still wasted a lot of time there early on.

Also found my first ever unique in a 1 hour race at like 57 mins, it was some quiver that I didn't have id scroll for.

I wonder how the hell these duelists kill turbo Brutus/Merveil so fast. Brutus took me down to <50 hp twice and I waited for lvl 11 to kill him. I got my first sapphire at 15 for Merveil, but it would have taken easily 4 portals to get her simply because her melee attacks wrecks you. If she happens to use it four times, that's it. Really have to fight on top of your portal and hope she casts some spells, otherwise it's non-stop trips back to town.

Kinda sad because I was top 5 at Brutus and still top 10 for Merveil. Hard to practice for this...

Well, a lot of people aren't trying Brutus or die to Brutus (in 1h turbo). If you pass Brutus you're like certainly going to finish top 50.

Also fun story, Brutus dropped 2 sapphire rings, one was rare and had 2% Life leech and like 20 HP. ^^ Also found a rare iron ring later on, wasn't that good (some extra HP and 7% lightningdmg lol)

Weapon RNG was pretty good though, i found a rare Tribal Maul with 22% phys, 2 Lifegain on Hit and 7% atk speed before Brutus. I would've said it was amazing but the way to ledge was kind of painful and i didn't find an upgrade, but it wasn't really necessary anyway.

That Maul made Brutus kind of easy though. So that was a big plus.

Honestly I just save 1 tp for Brutus, as long as you know when to run, you can kill him with 3 basic hp pots and 2 of the level 1 swords. (Like I just had to do in the race.)

How do you beat Merveil though? Just tp spam? I didnt find a sapphire so I didn't really feel safe/felt like it was worth the risk.

Bought 2 mediums so i had 3 for Merveil. With the 2 sapphire rings i found it was pretty easy, then again i also had about 330 hp as Marauder. Didn't even need to TP. ^^

Also Pwere, i farmed to lvl 10 to have some more HP for Brutus, but i also had a pretty decent layout of upper prison.

Brutus isn't hard if you can buy/get 2 medium flasks, a strapped leather armor, leather belt and 1-2 portal scrolls. The hard part is killing him at level 9 right when you get there.
But Merveil is where I'm struggling at. I guess it's all about zerging her on top of your portal, waiting for 14 for large flasks, and getting one sapphire ring.

I had 280hp, 2 large flasks, and ~110dps, and she took me down to 70hp twice before I got her below 2/3 hp. Her spells barely tickle, but melee attacks.....

That sounds strange to me, perhaps you had really bad equip RNG? Two large flasks sounds awesome, i didn't even have one.

Also, for my case she mostly was casting stuff... might have been lucky.

I had plenty of scrolls to buy them, probably because I found so little gear. But I think it was only bad luck with AI rng. I just tried her again and she never used her melee attack more than twice in a row, which made her ridiculously easy.
So, more tp it is.

Yeah I definately wouldn't have been able to kill her, I only had 1 large, 1 medium, 2 tps, 0 sapphires, and didnt have the leather.

I find that evasion gear is amazing vs both brutus and merveil. Even though I only had 1 sapphire ring I killed merveil with only backing off once in each phase. The spells hurt a lot more than the melee attacks imo.

What can you get besides Tricorne + Strapped Leather? I try to get both, but it's still not close to 50% evade vs Merveil. I find her spells to be pretty weak besides maybe ice spear, and I usually have one coral + sapphire. I'd imagine two sapphires would make her spells ridiculously weak.

By backing off, do you mean TP or simply running around? Running around seems like a losing battle in turbo. Might as well take the instant full heal and make sure her ES never goes back up.

I'll check how Helman did it. Maybe I'm doing something dumb.

Edit: Exactly what I meant, at 35:45. He gets lucky that the 4th hit deals low damage, and it happens again a bit later. I guess I'll stop whining like a lil' bitch and just man-mode that shit.

Didn't look at my evasion% I pretty much never look at any of my stats during races except making sure the weapons give more dps. But you don't need 50%, you just need to not get hit by every swing, and by backing of I simply ran around behind one of the pillar, I had 1 large pot and 2 medium pots so I could take a decent number of hits, but I guess if you only have shitty pots it's much faster/safer to tp out.

And yeah, need to man-mode quite a bit, no way to get high rank without it

edit: Too bad that Helmannn died so fast in there, wanted to see whether or not he killed the boss zombie in there. I kept meeting him so I killed him every time, but only 2 of the times was really fast since he hits really hard and viper strike + chaos aura make so you can't outregen even with lvl14 potion. But if he misses his attacks he's such an easy xp gain.

god damn it... i had a monstrous run, really good RNG. just died

#14 overall when i died and lvl 17 with 17 more mins to go... just now when i got my weapon upgrade, arghhhh. i felt kinda undestroyable, which made me die lol. did a really huge mistake. leap into 8(!) dischargers. killed 5 and the other 3 killed me.

Died at rank9 desynched in blue small curtain pack that surrounded me somehow, and had the worst start possible. Was lvl1 still in zombie zone. Allies cannot die aura blocking my only path in merveil zone, tried going around and ended up wasting a lot of time. Only reason I almost made a comeback was that the unique leather belt dropped from spider boss that gives life/mana leech, so I ended up only using 1 mana potion and did a lot of crazy pulls while I perma hp potted.

lol, i found facebreaker... couldnt use it one bit though, as i had leap slam only for aoe. well, my RNG was only good cuz i found the right stuff at the right time, none of it was really good. i found a 2h weapon when i needed it and i found potions as well as a weapon upgrade when i needed it...

tbh the best thing about the run was the skeleton level. i had a pack of like 12 blue skels.... gave me half a level up. and that wasn't the only blue pack.

definitely want a run again where i find a +70% physical dmg weapon at lvl 8, lol. had that once... that was great. then you can focus only on the other stuff with alchs etc and that makes you survive a lot more.

To be fair you can't really compare Ranger and Duelist. Obviously pwere is going to have a harder time killing Merveil than Zoroxo simply because Duelists are about 2x as good at killing bosses than rangers are. Ranger have burning arrow for single target, whereas duelists can ezmode any boss with dual strike. It's not even close. There is a reason duelist wins almost every race after all.
