lvl 3 and lvl 19 (died 3 min before the end). lvl 19 is EXP record for me, and that even given i started 5 min late. that said, i had the best weapon luck ever. the second jade chopper i alched had +86% phys dmg, accuracy and 2 more stats that i dont remember. that weapon hit like a truck until even lvl 19. oh and i died to a pack of flame sentinels. 3rd marauder apparently :> too bad i died, i could've been 2nd marauder. and without dying twice, probably 1st (if i had gotten that imba weapon, haha, yeah IF IF )

Went with RoA, all offensive passives, and focused on quiver, gloves and rings... ps. Found cleave on the statue level, along with two excellent rare weapons. A Templar with that might have set a world record...

I did pick some bad chests, then again that was my first Descent race. But still got Hatred/Anger (don't remember), but if I used it I would only have like 20 mana. Anyone got tips on Marauder for descent and races in general? LOL Now that I realize it, I went through the Merveil thing without ever seeing her. That was good, but her daughters were a pain.

Went with RoA, all offensive passives, and focused on quiver, gloves and rings. congrats to you too. my weapon was so insane too ... one shot the small statues, 2 shot the very big ones. i killed merveil in like 10 seconds. was unreal, must've been the best weapon ever for me in races. it's not hard to get a really good one for marauder. you can get like 5 alchs and 3 chaos from the chests, but i even got it on my second alch. pretty lucky. edit: @ the above: i guess you picked anger instead leap slam. i'd consider that a huge mistake, but perhaps you were gonna play ground slam anyway (which would be slower but more safe). that duelist set up a new exp record. i thought so, he was lvl 22 pretty fast. also some tips for descent race as marauder: walk through the first zone without killing anything except maybe the boss for the drops. loot all the chests, though. get alluring chest for quicksilver or if you think you'll be unlucky with life pots go for the curious provision. after that, get one level up in the next zone. you might have to be careful, depending on if you had luck with the chests in the first zone etc. i always pick sweep here, i like the aoe of it. sweep is in the curious provision in the third zone i'd level up quite a bit, maybe until lvl 5. after that i wouldn't skip too much, just kill everything until you find your way to the next zone. preferably don't kill single monsters though. skills i go heavy strike (obviously) for single target, for aoe the/my priority would be groundslam into sweep into leap slam (with added fire; gotta check the provision rewards here) as for how to skill: usually i go damage first, except if you dont find any corals or life on your equip for until like lvl 4-5. after that i go all the way to this.

A Templar with that might have set a world record... You could have been #1 ranger with cleave easily :p In the third zone with the necromancers; you can only get experience from a mob once right? I never seem to be able to kill the raisers with poison arrow so I normally try to kill the mobs once and then run away, but I'm not entirely sure how the mechanics work on that.

I think finding a 2h sword + leap slam would be more significant at that point. As for summoned/res'd mobs, I think you're right: they don't give XP. If you can't snipe the necro, just running away is fine, since you don't need that much XP from that zone with Poison Arrow. What's the best way to get lvl 4 for RoA? I killed a blue pack of snakes in the first zone, and found a quiver so I could get level 3 in the 2nd zone very easily, but split arrow is so bad in the 1st/3rd zone if you don't find an iron ring or quiver. It seems I can easily waste ~5 minutes getting those levels if I don't get lucky. Btw, grats on that Marauder finish, very impressive after a death. Edit: That quiver you get at the end of Frozen Abyss is lvl 13, and thus can roll all tier 2 damage mods. Best use of alch/chaos for Rangers, imo. All the stuff I didn't have to know as a duelist..

![]() None of the mobs in the first two zones really stick out as good exp material. I always try to kill the bandits in the second zone, but I'm not sure that is the best choice.

Also; any tips for descent league? only did it twice so far. I'm guessing for the first zone you just skip all the mobs? Farm up 2nd zone a bit?

I'm guessing for the first zone you just skip all the mobs? Farm up 2nd zone a bit? What do you mean by points calculated? Your strategy depends a lot on which class you're playing. Skipping the first zone and ditching the second when you get to level 2 is a good plan for all of them though. You should still pick off good pockets of exp where possible and loot chests. Facing rhoas with no armor can be pretty dangerous. The best thing you can do is probably watch a vod of one of the racers to see what they do and then you can ask questions about why they do it if you're confused about something. Pick a class and stick with it first though. Duelist is the easiest, but it also has the largest player population which means placing high will be much harder (assuming you're out to win a stride; if you just want season points then easymode is the way to go). Shadow and Witch are bringing up the rear so I'd avoid them if you're new to racing. Easy Hard Duelist > Marauder > Ranger = Templar > Witch = Shadow All of this only applies to descent races.

Each race has its own distribution of points. Typically they give out points for: - Hitting a certain level (easiest way to rack points) - Achieving top 20th or above in your class (in terms of level) - Being the first to do something (eg. full clear Fetid, kill Fairgraves, etc.) Unless you mean how they determine what value of reward points is assigned to a specific achievement, in which case I would say it's pretty arbitrary. It will vary based on the game mode & time: harder races tend to be more forgiving on the level rewards. It always seems to be like 2 pts for any quest/full clear objective.

You take damage first for early clear speed, then you rush for Point Blank, which you pick right after the Skeletal Cave. Everything from here on charges at you (Dischargers, whirling blades, ribbons), so you can rip them apart, and pick Thick Skin right in time for Exiles.

Spreadsheet of Descent chest rewards that I figured you guys might want to have handy. Edit: Ending up placing 180th. This is the first time I haven't died in Descent (all of my other races died at around 12-14 in the ice cave.) Ironically becuase I played safer with bad RNG, I ended up making it farther. Got to level 16,
