You know, I don't even know what I could have done there. I had to take an NI to improve my force limits just to have an army to remotely stem off all the shit I was fighting and even that wasn't enough. I -had- to be at war the entire game because so many cores were out of reach, I was literally losing ~2 prestige a month from the unclaimed cores or shit like that. Ugh
Also, 1600th post in the thread :D

i find that out right winning 1 war is much better than trying to hold multiple fronts. reload and go crush the horde quickly before they ever become a threat, then just mass dive onto your weakest enemy and make them leave the war asap. i won a war as burgundy recently against about 10 counties in 1410 by just running my stack around getting high war scores against individuals over and over

You should have offered to pay tributes to The Golden Horde, that would have bought you ample time for Poland/lithuania

It wasn't Golden Horde. It was some Eastern horde. They weren't even a PROBLEM. I could have easily taken them out. It's just they took all of my colonies in the east for my "Push to Siberia" event/mission, took them over in like a month, made them a province, and I had to recolonize them when I took them over and then push into their territory. All the while, them sending 800-1000 troops to every province I took and was colonizing, burning the earth or just taking it back or something. It was just frustrating as fucking hell because I didn't notice it right away.

So I'm thinking of doing an extensive AAR of whatever country. Win or lose, I'll write it out fully and everything. I'm just really bad at choosing, so I'll leave it up to a poll what country I should do :D
Poll: What Country to PlayThe Papal State (7) 39% Japanese Minor (5) 28% Bavaria (3) 17% Serbia (3) 17% Wales (0) 0% 18 total votes Your vote: What Country to Play (Vote): Bavaria (Vote): The Papal State (Vote): Wales (Vote): Japanese Minor (Vote): Serbia
Keep in mind:
In D&T, Japan is far more interesting. It's more like 20 different countries instead of just 4 really powerful ones. I will be playing this on Hard, Normal Aggression, No Lucky Nations. I'll also be posting this in the "Blogs" section when i get to starting it, so look out for it there. I'll mainly be doing this in hopes of attracting more people to this game by appealing to the blogs section of the site, hopefully garnering some interest. So if you got any ideas, toss them my way to make it a bit more interesting!

I say, Bavaria.
Who cares about wimpy Japanese weaklings who talk about flowers all the time when you can have real Bavarian Men drinking bear and beating up Austrians.

The pope probably makes for the best role play. Gameplay wise I'd always prefer europe over asia, simply because there's way more happening there (making politics more interesting too). I'd discount Wales simply because with some bad luck you'll just get roflstomped by the Redcoats in the first 20 years, so it comes down to land based HRE vs ottoman vassal with sea access (I assume Serbia still is vassalized in D&T?) vs TEH PIMP errr Pope with a plethora of ways you can go (Italy, HRE, holy land, new world etc. ).
|
I know a lot of you don't have D&T, so here's what Japan looks like for a more accurate opinion:

Europe looks more or less the same, very minor changes that don't really make a difference.

Anyone on TL want to schedule a weekly playing of EU3 multiplayer? I played multiplayer with people a couple months ago and it was a BLAST, but lack of a schedule made us eventually just quit the game. I'd be happy to host, etc if there's enough interest.

Depending on how this one goes, I may take part in the next one :D I just don't want to put a bunch of effort into a partial--AAR and have everyone else do fuck all like last one.
Also, I know this thread isn't very active -- but whatever is in the lead in that poll tomorrow evening I will choose and begin doing. Feel free to drop recommendations for said top one for how I should roleplay it and write it out and shit like that, if you got any fancy ideas. I'm not the most creative person.

Alright, Papal State it is. I'll get started this evening :D
|
Hm. The Pope. You could go in hardcore inquisition mode and force your catholicism onto everyone, at least for one ruler. Maybe even destroy countries just because there are some heretic rebels somewhere. Or maybe one of your popes really wants to engineer new crusades into the holy land, but obviously not by invading himself, but by convincing other catholic rulers who have an army to go there. Anyways, i would suggest regular policy changes whenever you get a new pope. After all, your rulers are not some kind of immortal who reincarnates himself every time he dies, and different popes might have different goals.

I liked the idea from the madness aar someone posted in the succession game thread:
Define some "events" (missions, policies whatever) and roll the dice (www.random.org) whenever you feel like it (new pope would be a good point of time indeed).
for example 1 = attack some infidels 2 = attack heretics (preferably avignom/byzantium) 3 = convert savages 4 = crusaaaaade the holy land beacons 5 = attack neighbours
etc. good luck !
edit: Depending on your luck you could end up with massive colonies, involved in the mid east or messing around in italy/hre. This also opens up the awesome opportunity of implementing the "this is how I roll"/" they see me rollin'" lines.

Alright, Part 1 is up.
I hope I did well :D

You should link to it, maybe i am just blind, but i don't see it.
