On May 23 2015 23:31 Aylear wrote:So if anyone is wondering where the hell Stunfest's USF4 content is, the answer is that Stunfest is a joke of an event if you aren't there in person. In the flesh it's apparently great, but the streams have been absolute clownshoes. Minor recap: It seems as though nobody is sitting at the streaming station most of the time. SNK vs Capcom and Super Turbo both have only sporadically had commentary. The live scene is usually stuck on this big splash screen, where most of the screen real estate is taken up by two giant "Stunfest" logos and a large webcam layer. The actual game feed? You get to watch that in teeny-weeny-eye-strain-o-vision. Soul Calibur 5 actually managed to discover a scene layer that put it in fullscreen. And then they put a big "Stunfest" watermark in the middle of the screen. Apparently they decided that the Stunfest watermark in the lower left didn't fill their shittyness quota. And now USF4 teams won't be streamed until semifinals, if at all. Because when you have the most stacked USF4 tournament of the year - a tournament that Capcom has given a lot of money to - then what you really want to do is not show it to anybody.Edit: There is also some confusion about where USF4 will be streamed. Big sites like Shoryuken and Eventhubs both claim it will be streamed from www.twitch.tv/capcomfighters, but it it possible that one is just parroting the other's mistake. Most stream monsters seem to think that USF4 will be on tv.stunfest.fr like all the other content, and that's the word from /r/StreetFighter and /r/Kappa from what I've seen. This is what I was led to believe as well, reading all of the game information leading up to Stunfest from official sources. I don't know where Eventhubs and Shoryuken got their information, but I added their claims to the OP on the off chance that two major FGC sites are better at consolidating legitimate USF4 information than some random guy on a StarCraft forum. Yeah this has been pretty crazy. I haven't heard as much complaining as I expected probably because Combo Breaker has also been on (and that's what I've been watching). The few times I tuned into the stunfest stream(s) there was nothing on, just overview of the arcade or something random. I thought I was just unlucky but if that's been the case all weekend that's a disaster. How can you get away with hosting an event this big in 2015 with streaming preparedness this poor?

It's FGC. This kind of stuff happens way more often than it should.
A major tournament as recent as KVO had issues. Their venue had internet problems on the day of USF4, with not enough bandwidth allocated to the stream because of bad planning. Zhi & co. went live on twitch.tv/capcomfighters to inform everyone that they would be recording everything offline and rebroadcasting that footage once the tournament was over. They went live twice to say this, once in English and once in Japanese. They had to keep the premiere Ultra Street Fighter IV event off-stream to make room for a minor Smash tournament that nobody was watching or attending.
Less than an hour later the stream comes back on, and they're in the middle of a game. No warning or acknowledgment of what was going on. They were just playing and streaming.
Much later the word comes out: Twitch helped them out with bandwidth issues, and the stream was able to run as planned (although missing a few early bracket games as a result). But by then, people had already turned off the stream and left because KVO literally told everyone to go away for like 13 hours until the rebroadcast. As a result they didn't get as many viewers as they should have had.
Some times feels like FGC tournaments that run smoothly are the exception. I know it's usually not that bad, but when it's bad, it's really bad.

Wasn't Stunfest shit for stream monsters last year too? I'm gonna assume that they don't give a fuck about the streams tbh. Be there or fuck you pretty much. Anyway, hopefully it will be better tomorrow when it's CPT. I know Logan Sama is gonna be there so I guess there will be some kind of commentary as well.

http://tv.stunfest.fr/r/Versus is on a splash screen that says "Next : TEAM USF4"
French stream only, trying to see if there's going to be an English stream for this as well.

And when we finally get some USF4 action, one of the players fail to do their button check properly and has to re-do it... so they pause halfway through the first match. And then they exit all the way to the main menu, can't find their way back to versus mode, and have to have organizers come over and help them out. Because apparently they're messing with versions and need to make sure they're on the right version/patch.
Stunfest 2015.

I've been kind of confused as to what is happening with the whole event. You are working way to hard to keep us updated Aylear, you have my sincere thanks!

Yea, let it be known that you have been an AMAZING job running this thread, with updates and whatnot.
I generally onyl use r/kappa and some player's twitters for stuff like who's going where/drama/whats happening (I do use Eventhubs for post-tournament final results of multiple games), but even I don't even come close to the knowledge and info you got going on Aylear.

Stunfest USF4 Singles Tournament happens tomorrow. Good time to take a look at the pools.
http://challonge.com/users/3hitcombo (Note: Stunfest has been awful at updating their online presence, so don't expect running pool updates)
Pool 1: Xian, Gagapa, Emersion, D44BAS Pool 2: Momochi, Pro Fluke, Mago, Will2Pac (French Viper player) Pool 3: Luffy, Ryan Hart, Santarouman Pool 4: Daigo, Dark Jiewa, Gamerbee, Veggey Pool 5: Bonchan, RMZ, Cuongster, Fuudo Pool 6: Tokido, EBI, Kazunoko, Kurenai Pool 7: Poongko, Eita, Damascus Pool 8: Infiltration, Valmaster, RF, xOver
Predictions: - Xian and Gagapa obviously. Xian will exit through winners, and the rest aren't quite on Gagapa's level. - Momochi and Mago. I love Pro Fluke, but it's MOMOCHI and MAGO. Sorry dude. - Luffy and Santarouman. This is the hardest one since Ryan Hart might take it, but he plays like 7 characters now. - Daigo and Gamerbee. Dark Jiewa is really good, but he's traditionally lost in tournaments despite great play. - Bonchan and Fuudo. My heart would love RMZ and Cuongster, but my head laughs at that idea. - Tokido and Kazunoko. EBI is really good and could take it over either, but it depends on what kind of day he's having. - Poongko and Eita. Damascus was looking really strong but Eita has been really good lately (see: KVO). - Infiltration. Second place is up for grabs; can't make a good prediction here. But if pressed: Valmaster
Man. I was looking forward to seeing RMZ. He's a UK player who's acquired a really solid Decapre, but that pool is just brutal. Sorry RMZ. Better luck at "Not Stunfest: The Tournament".

There are like ten firstplace contenders in this tournament, gonna be crazy!
EDIT: With all these superstacked tournaments this first half of 2015, I would've liked for Pepeday to go to more tournaments. I know he had a really stressful schedule when r/kappa first noticed him, but it would be cool to see him play in tournaments with this many good people.
|
Infiltration is just so brutally good in team tournaments man. <3
He seriously just won another one. Like, Infiltration did. Not his team, Infiltration. And he did it at Stunfest. Like, what.
Edit: Team tournament results from Stunfest:
1st Place: r/kappa Kebab - Infiltration & Damascus
2nd Place: r/kappa - Poongko & EBI
3rd Place: Falcon Meltdown - Luffy & Ryan HArt
4th Place: No Defense - Tokido & Mago

Combo Breaker is (probably) being DDoS'd. Most likely won't stream any more today.
Edit: 2:29 VGBootCamp: no one knows exactly what's going. TOs and hotel and ISP are doing everything possible to make sure stream is up by tomorrow
|
|
We're live! Infiltration vs Valmaster to start off the day.
|
high lvl play, too bad only so little of it got to be on stream
|
that's pretty stacked bracket
|
Oh yeah, Stunfest is mad stacked. The only players missing from this event are the killers from the US, but a few of those are at Combo Breaker this weekend so we get to see them anyway. ![](/mirror/smilies/puh2.gif)
So many streets this weekend, I can't hold all the fighting.

Hakan is so fun to watch, go Ebi!
