![]() The more I play with these seeded packs at these events the less I like the system. It homogenises a lot of the decks so you just play the same thing over and over again. The other thing that really bothers me is (as happened to me this time around) when you pick a colour, open almost no playable in said colour except for cards that come from your seeded booster. So you can't play the colour you picked and instead have to build a deck from essentially 5 boosters. Also in this vein I think it encourages bad deckbuilding because people get quite attached to whatever colour and bomb rare is in their seeded pack. Hopefully BNG will shake up the draft format a bit, from what I've seen it should help out quite a bit, theres a ton of enchantment hate at common so at least there will be more reliable ways to deal with all the voltronning that makes Theros a bit stale, but will have to wait and see until I actually get a chance to draft it.

My Gifts control deck was starting to look strong and it's probably going to take a hit. On the other hand, I guess other B/G decks were just dominating the format too hard...

Anything that makes the jund mu easier is a good thing for me....in any case, keen to see what decks will pop up with bitterblossom. There is a fair bit of cheap removal for cards such as bitterblossom now, so pretty sure it'll be ok. But I am glad that it'll make some of my leftover fairy cards from a few years back a bit more valuable now This is basically how I feel. IMO, Abrupt Decay makes Bitterblossom unbannable. God am I glad to see the 1-mana planeswalker gone. This will drive the rest of my local meta to White or Blue decks. Mono Red Control is fucking awesome.

Mono-Red Control. My local meta is ~75% White, Blue, or WUx. So I decided to bring on the hate. Removal: 4 Lightning Bolt 3 Searing Blood 2 Pyroclasm 2 Bonfire 4 Boros Reckoner Advantage 2 Tezzeret's Gambit 3 Chandra, Pyromaster Threats 3 Koth of the Hammer 2 Stormbreath Dragon Control 4 Molten Rain 4 Cryoclasm 3 Blood Moon Lands 3 Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle 2 Cavern of Souls 19 Mountain Sideboard (For when 4 main-decked U/W hate cards aren't enough) 2 Boil 1 Boiling Seas 2 Flashfires 3 Sowing Salt 2 Roiling Terrain 3 Leyline of Punishment (there's a local Soul Sisters player) 2 Anger of the Gods [EDIT] This list split Top-4 of the first tournament it played in. We'll see how it holds up!

Odds are you have many of the pieces (Chandra, Stormbreath, Reckoner, Bolt, Pyroclasm/Anger of the Gods) or can pick them up cheap (Searing Blood, Bonfire, Valakut, Molten Rain, Cryoclasm, Blood Moon, Sideboard). All together, the deck is $150-200 if you start with nothing - that's pretty good for a modern deck, especially one that hits the meta so hard. Warning: Has not been tested vs Pod, and BW Tokens is dependant on Pyro/Anger. If you're seeing lots of these, mix up the sideboard significantly. P.S. With Bitterblossom and Wildcat unbanned, UBx and WRG are sure to spike - and Cryoclasm hits both those decks. What I'm saying is, 4 mainboard sources of Island/Plains hate is worth the rare time you'll hit Jund or RB Burn in my meta, and it looks to get better.

MONO RED CONTROL Round 1 vs American Control on the draw After some early burn spells, he Ajani'd to regain some life on Turn 4. I sneak in Koth without fear of counters, and kill ajani with a mountain. Turn 5 I tezzeret's gambit into Koth Ult. Turn 5 Koth ult is pretty good, win game easily. Game 2 I T5 cavern->Stormbreath. He is unable to kill it, and I go monstrous to kill him. Conclusion: MRC was designed for this matchup. Unsurprising result, finished in 20 minutes. Round 2 vs Jund on the draw Turn 1 Ravine put him on Jund, and my Cryoclasm in-hand was worthless. Turn 2 Deathrite Thoughtsieze took my Koth. I did manage to stabilize, but eventually a pair of 5/6 goyfs ran over me while he was at 3. Game 2: 3 mountains into Blood Moon. I have the game locked, until I cast Searing Blood. Which is not legal until Friday. Fuck me, game loss, tilt, drop.
