A successful solid defensive play is only complete when the defensive board is achieved, so grabbing defensive boards (and preventing offensive boards) is absolutely key to good defense. Each defensive board Durant grabbed was a completion of a defensive play and one less offensive board for the Lakers, and each offensive board was an extra possession for the Thunder. With the size and height advantage the Lakers have in this series, every rebound is important for the Thunder. Also, the Lakers certainly didn't help things with all the long shots they took, which tend to result in long rebounds that neutralize our size advantage in the post and lead to fast breaks. | ||
