Yes, I know you and susie want it to work out, but guilds don't always. Way to make what sounds like a really fun venture sound like something really boring. Better boring than frustrating. I agree with that. I ran a guild for about a month, and with everyone feeling they were entitled to something or another, it was an absolute pain in the ass. Edit: Though I don't think that would be a problem with TL. Everyone shares a common interest, and while it's still possible there may be a few douchebags, the majority of the community has a good head on them, and I think it will translate well into the guild. That's the key. I've ran 2 raiding guilds. One for about 6 months and my current one for about a year and a half. It's more about people with the same goals in mind than about ability, dkp, schedule, etc. If the people you have all share the same goal and mindset; you'll do fine. No ability and competence has everything to do with succeeding at end game raiding. Having the common goal of progression is nice but you can't have 8 shitty players and expect to down bosses even as easy as this game has gotten.
You read something from my post that wasn't there. The obvious implications of really, really bad players on a raiding guild is detrimental. But that's nothing new. That is beyond obvious, to a point that acknowledging it isn't even worthwhile. But even bad players can raid. Raiding isn't hard. But to succeed the people who are better and the people who are worse have to be on the same page as eachother. Better players who spend more time on their character, or the game in general, have to be ok w/ the guild and its priorities. If they're not; then it will fail.

Now that I'm trying to level a new character, I'm really tempted to just up and transfer my Mage to your server :/

I understand quite a bit has changed since I quit (I would certainly hope so with an expansion and a LOT of patches). It's not like I couldn't look this information up elsewhere, but could anyone provide me with a very brief rundown of what exactly changed since 70 that would make me interested again? I would be returning from the perspective of someone who played entirely too much in the past, but would be interested in some casual raiding / pvp / etc if I were to return. I'd like to second that request, expect I want to know what happened since vanilla WoW.^^ Also, would I need to buy every expansion or just 1?
The only thing you need to know:
They destroyed wall jumping.

Lol you can have some pretty horrible players and succeed at end game raiding these days.

I'd love to join and raid with you guys but I'm fairly committed to a 10-man raiding guild that is actually a bunch of good people (which apparently is a rarity in the WOW world).
|
I made a character and PMed someone in the guild, but there were no officers on. Keep an eye out for me, my character is Anomalous; I roled a druid. (Plus, with the help of some people with higher level toons, I should be able to level even faster.)
|
DKP divided amongst members based off of the prices spent on items dropped seemed the best way. My guild had officers for each class and the members within the classes were all really close and everyone generally had an idea of what would go to whom. DKP was hardly ever an issue. A good close knit guild shouldn't have problems handing out loot. If you do then thats a shitty sign for your guild.
God damn past memories I miss my old guild; a great bunch of people.

I was in a guild that was comprised of all real life friends and family. We were together for almost 4 years; the core group never changed. We were possibly best horde side guild for a long time, lots of first in vanilla.
As for raiding, I think a few people have said that they have raiding experience. I understand that everyone wants to contribute but I'm going to assume that most people who will be playing with the <Team Liquid> tag ARE NOT DOUCHE BAGS AND CAN FOLD THEIR PRIDE FOR THE BETTER GOOD FOR THE GUILD.
Once things look like it will be rolling, I will be setting up a website (nothing too huge, just a place to let us know what's going on when, etc) and writing out a 10 commandment, if you will.
As harsh as the moderation is here on TL, I expect the same amount of respect within guild. We are starting this guild to become a community, and online family - and if you're gonna shit on your family, then I will kick you out.
Also, if you have noticed, we are not asking for zomgwtfbbq amazing raiders to join. What makes a guild is the wanting for progress TOGETHER not for your own personal gain. I'm sure many of you have been in nice yet boring guilds or great progress but asshole loot whore drama guilds.
We should all be mature enough to deal with things through communication -
RAID TIMES WILL MOST LIKELY BE between 7 and 8PM EST. They will NOT be every night - 3 evenings at most. I understand that raiding can be a burden, thus there will not be a "must raid" policy. But if you are a raider (or become a part of the core group) please have the decency to let us know not to wait on you earlier in the week.
I will be a LOT more active in May. As for now, I will need to appoint 2 people to lead raids, 2 people who can work together. >.<
In the beginning we will just enforce a master looted, need over greed, roll off for people who want a certain piece. For now it's just about finding our player base and getting to know one another. When we start doing 25 mans, and beyond, we can enable a dkp system.
I just want us to have fun, guys. Having a guild for me was about having a place to go to actually speak with friends, when you wanna talk about the amazing OSL/MSL/Proleague game (without refreshing TL hehe), to find lowbies to gank, etc.
Instead of asking how shitty it might become, why not come and make it the great guild it CAN be instead? Midian and I are open to suggestions and comments, we're not going to be jerk GMs who don't care what people want.

Why are you trying to hard to tempt me back into the game, Susie?
I really hope the Team Liquid guild succeeds, but I haven't had any interest to go back to the game for almost a year now and now it's suddenly nagging at me.

Midian is a very bad man and I'm told he throws small children off of buildings.

Is the TSL guild planning on putting together any quality arena teams, or will you just be raiding?

Yeah I might join you guys when I get some time off school this summer if there are a lot of pvpers. I stopped playing like the first month of s7 but I got 2300 in s6. I have 0 interest in pve though.

That's up to you guys. I'm sure some people are interested in PvP I know I am but with my 500 latency in Korea kinda sucks. Again, first and foremost this guild is for the people and community. Raiding is just one thing we would like to do. If you have friends in some shit guild and nothing to do, transfer over and start up a group. Help/teach us PvP is you want. Let's do guild BGs and roll some bitches.

yeah I had a 2100 priest back in the day, pvp is pretty fun but to get glad etc you need top top end gear which is a huge grind ;/
but TL premade BGs would be way too fun :D

Long time no speak Isaac. You should def join, I'm not good at pvp by any means but I'd be up for playing some, and I'm sure more people will join/level who would be up for some pvping too.
