Yeah this is pretty stark stuff. Scarlett basically has to beat Serral. She CAN do that, but ooooof.

Scarlett makes Blizzcon IF she makes semis AND Lambo/uThermal do not. All three of them (would) have incredibly tough Quarterfinal matchups and so tomorrow is going to be important.

...So this is it, right? the big tournaments season is over for Scarlett? Great year overall: won IEM Pyeongchang (her first Major), GSL Ro8, made a lot of money and reached a level of results she didn't had since like 2013. This may have been her best year as a programer in my opinion.

She should be, running into Serral twice in a row is incredibly unlucky and in my mind she's been screwed out of Blizzcon by bracket luck. Meanwhile Has is going because he got on the opposite side of the bracket of Serral once more than she did.

While I agree with you that its very unlucky running into Serral in Ro16 and Ro8 twice in a row, her runs in Leizpig and Austin were both very disappointing, you cannot blame the bad luck when falling in 3rd Group Stage to Namshar and loosing to Nerchio 0-3 in Ro16. In fact, It seems to me way more unlucky the fact that both events where she really shined (IEM and GSL) didn't give her a damn WCS point. I also think that she IS top8 non-korean in skill, and I think she has been the second best foreigner this year (maybe third now that Neeb has GSLRo4?), but.... those are the rules...

This may have been her best year as a programer in my opinion. I would agree. 2012 was good too: winning WCS Canada and WCS NA. The year shat she beat Polt in Red Bull Battlegrounds was good too. But none of that doesn't hold a candle to GSL RO8 and IEM Pyongchang.

Talking gold, couldn't agree more. I'm so torn right now, i'd like to rage because she made an awefull WCS run this year, and i'm so happy to see her winning IEM Pyongchang and went to Ro8 GSL; But because she made those good runs does not explain why she did so bad in Austin, Leipzig and Katowice. Because of her new standing, she was not allowed to go that bad. I heard that after Ro8, she played only 3h a day max until GSL vs the World, is that true ? Is she tired of SC2 ? I had this impression of her that she rested on her laurels. Come on Scarlett, it's only the beginning, the best is yet to come ! And I like the fact that she's the pic of the Anti-Serral ! No Blizzcon this year, but i wish you the best for the next year Sasha, you're a terrific player ! Keep us amazed ![]()

Single-elimination tournaments are a joke. I'm going to call this out as deceiving because Serral has dropped 2 games to foreigners in a Bo7 twice this year, but otherwise yes I agree.
