While I'm definitely a fan of EG I feel like there's gonna be a lack of content specific to the team and not the individual players. If it's meant to replace the individual threads then that's a different thing, but a lot of team threads would contain discussion on one (or two) players as they are clear profiles.

Well, EG actually has a lot of production going on along with the team, so I actually see this as a good idea.

Well there's a lot of factors that have to be taken into account.
Huk didn't simply go to Korea and improve drastically. Sure, he has access to the Korean ladder but apart from that he practices an awful lot; lives with the best Protoss in the world - and a bunch of other pros as well, and has people like Tyler and Nazgul to give him advice. Just because Liquid are able to provide such an environment for their players, doesn't mean that EG are as well. Spending the money for a team house would not be enough if they don't have the connections the Liquid management has. At least Idra certainly didn't. And moving to the US was obviously the right decision for him. A lot of doomsayers keep on moaning about his girlfriend ruining ESPORTS but they seem to forget that Idra all but stopped practicing long before he left Korea.
Also, Liquid were always convinced that having prescence in Korea is a good investment for the future, while EG try to maximise their players' exposure at the present. Having their players in the US makes it much more convenient to work with sponsors and to travel to as many events as possible. If they move the whole team to Korea, flying all of them for events in Europe and the US would require an unrealistically high budget, so it would have to be limited. The chances of this investment paying off do not seem to be very high to me. However, having no presence in Korea whatsoever doesn't sound that good to me as well. It doesn't have to be permanent but sending some of their players to stay there for a month like Incontrol did last year might be worth it.
What I'm concerned about is that EG do not seem to be interested in young and promising players. I don't know about StrifeCro's background but all the others have years of experience, either in SC:BW or W3. Having experienced players on the team is by no means something bad but if I'm sending someone to Korea, it would be as a part of my long-term plans because the player has to be ready to win nothing for a year or two.
I was fortunate enough to get pictures with most of EG at MLG Columbus, and they're some of the nicest pro-gamers I met there! They certainly didn't mind chatting casually a bit either
EG is owning up at the Arizona Open - their 4 players in the top 8, and DeMuslim + LzGamer will be playing for first in a bit. Of course the caliber is not super high, but still a fun event.
Sign me up! Axslav fighting. I remember Axslav and StrifeCro from the WC3 times. They were really crazy bustards with interesting tactics. One of the best 2vs2 teams on WC3 ever. :-D Go go Team EG!
I desperately want someone on EG to step it up. Looking back on the EG Masters Cup Season V it was pretty clear that IdrA was carrying the team. Take Machine for instance, almost always the butt of EG jokes and has been living with IdrA for a while now and still doesn't seem to be taking things too seriously. Last time I was in his stream he basically admitted to not having dedicated himself to practiced since Dallas yet he can tell you his and IdrA's workout routine and diet in 30 seconds flat. I'm a no fluff kinda guy so I'm gonna go ahead and say this is some bullshit. I only single out Machine because A) I'm a fan and B) his MLG performance showed promise.
I guess you could throw Geoff's in there as well but I personally don't trust Geoff not to expend his energy doing a multitude of things, be it coaching, reading the forums, or something else. I see him more as the team coach than an active player anyway, no insult intended as I also think that role would suit him very well.
For now with the team house looming I worry most for DeMuslim. With LZ's attendance likely to be sporadic and his switching to Zerg that leaves him as the only dedicated Terran. I'm kind of afraid he'll either be overworked, or not get as much out of it as his Zerg/Protoss teammates from the idea bouncing and feedback standpoint. Scoots hates it when people say things like this but he should look into piking up another Terran.
There are far too many promises coming out of the EG House. Incontrol promises things will be different, Scoots is promising tons of content. Frankly I don't want promises, I want results. I don't want one single minute spent on a Fragmore University or anything else if it comes at the expense of practice or even risks posing as a distraction. While I'm ranting I'll go ahead and say that streaming needs to stay off the to do list as well. It gives away builds, thought processes, and even though "ladder/streaming doesn't matter" people still cheat which does nothing more than cheapen an arguably already cheaper effort put in by the players. For what? Some extra dollars? IMO (IdrA specifically) is just getting paid to give his opponents free research into what he's currently doing. Although I'm probably the only person in the world that's happy he hasn't been streaming lately.
Basically just want the entire team to knuckle down, get really damn serious, cut out even more of the extra shit and show they are worthy of that buttload of sponsors they have. They don't owe it to the fans as much as they owe it to themselves and their team.

I'm a huge fan of EG and I agree with you. While it isn't our decision, I really want EG to take the gaming house seriously and start producing results. The "tons of content" is worrying because I'm afraid it will be too much content. They should just do a stream of everyone practicing (ladder/grind customs, not developing builds and stuff) if they want to give us content. It will let the players practice, and I'm sure a lot of people would love to see a team environment practice session.
But yeah, I agree with everything important in the post. Only two issues with your post are streaming and working out. Streaming 1-2hrs a day and working out 1ish hour a day is good for practice. A healthy body helps your mind, and streaming would be some practice while relaxing.

Well there's a lot of factors that have to be taken into account.
Huk didn't simply go to Korea and improve drastically. Sure, he has access to the Korean ladder but apart from that he practices an awful lot; lives with the best Protoss in the world - and a bunch of other pros as well, and has people like Tyler and Nazgul to give him advice. Just because Liquid are able to provide such an environment for their players, doesn't mean that EG are as well. Spending the money for a team house would not be enough if they don't have the connections the Liquid management has. At least Idra certainly didn't. And moving to the US was obviously the right decision for him. A lot of doomsayers keep on moaning about his girlfriend ruining ESPORTS but they seem to forget that Idra all but stopped practicing long before he left Korea.
Also, Liquid were always convinced that having prescence in Korea is a good investment for the future, while EG try to maximise their players' exposure at the present. Having their players in the US makes it much more convenient to work with sponsors and to travel to as many events as possible. If they move the whole team to Korea, flying all of them for events in Europe and the US would require an unrealistically high budget, so it would have to be limited. The chances of this investment paying off do not seem to be very high to me. However, having no presence in Korea whatsoever doesn't sound that good to me as well. It doesn't have to be permanent but sending some of their players to stay there for a month like Incontrol did last year might be worth it.
What I'm concerned about is that EG do not seem to be interested in young and promising players. I don't know about StrifeCro's background but all the others have years of experience, either in SC:BW or W3. Having experienced players on the team is by no means something bad but if I'm sending someone to Korea, it would be as a part of my long-term plans because the player has to be ready to win nothing for a year or two.

Would be awesome if they recruited Spanishiwa as I see him as a player with a lot of potential and he's doing better then Strifecro. Spanishiwa is also a very popular player that will be good for sponsors etc.

I think it depends a lot on the player in question and their current psychological state. Some can be perfectly fine with streaming for a couple of hours a day, others get too distracted and frustrated by cheaters. As long as the player can realise the need to quit for a few weeks if streaming is becoming an issue, then all is good.

They've only been in Korea for a month, it's not the air that makes Korean players better... And I think that they have improved but they were so far behind from the Korean scene in the first place that they get destroyed so badly anyway.

Well from what I've seen on their stream, they do practice seriously. Maybe not on the hardcore SC:BW scale but in an organised and devoted fashion nevertheless. And they are forming connections with the Korean pros and practice with them as well. But it takes time.

And anyway, as soon as they give up to Activision's stupidity and start wasting their time to update the block lists because, the trolls will figure it out that no /ignore is permanent and they can try again in a few days.

Picking up strong korean players and developing the foreign community & players are not mutually exclusive. If anything having some power houses in the team will benefit the "lesser" players. We have seen time and time again how practising with koreans can take foreign players to the next level.
I am curious to see if PuMa will be able to keep getting better or if his skills will diminish now that he doesn't live in a pro house. Would be terrible if he ended up stagnating because of suboptimal practice environments. Or maybe he EG has plans for a korean pro house as well? Who knows.
I dont rly like the EG organisation but the players are cool. Just drop the dead weight now. Follow that up with some new recruits and you will have one of the strongest teams out there...

Puma practice with MC, MVP and prob a lot of other top-tier players so I think he will be fine, as long as he lives in Korea. Though it can get a bit lonely if he's planning on staying in Korea so I expect EG to follow this up with some other Korean players
Now Puma is being added in the mix, get a korean type training system and they can compete in GSTL no prob... Still I was a fan before Puma, sign me up plz!!
Sick addition to EG, I hope that Puma will give good results in the future, even though he wont be forced to train as much as in TSL. Hopefully this will motivate the rest of the team to train harder.
So this is what being in shock feels like. Not sure it's the good kind either. When I find out I'll be sure to inform people that won't care in the form of a tl;dr rant. For now...patience.

Really improper comment and place for this sort of comment...this is a fanclub. Not to mention they truly have some of the best and most transparent management in the esports scene, unless you're jaded by one move that 1) Has not even been completed yet 2) was not made public by they themselves. With that said it is not exactly proper to question their management when they have fully signed their players through legal means thus far and made solid business moves to this day, much beyond that of other pro organizations we've seen in the likes of SK or other teams.

If i wanted to sign Idra to my team and give him 400,000 a year contract, i would have to go through E.G management to ask him BECAUSE he is under a contract with them. I would say to SirScoots; I have a proposition for Idra to join my team is it ok to talk to him about this. He would reply either yes, your free to do so, or No, you must buy out his contract from me(Sirscoots) first for a fee. Thus going about signing an under contract player rightly.
However if the player i wanted to sign was a free "agent" playing for some team but is not Legally binded to them, there is no stopping him from jumping ship whenever he wants to, thats the joys of not being "tied" down to anything. Thus what EG have done, thus nothing has been brocken.
Morale of the story. GIVE YOUR PLAYERS CONTRACTS!!! the contracts don't even have to state there pay or what there going to make, it all has to state is that they are playing for "Team X" and they can not leave without discussing it with coach first and compensation being paid (or transfer fee like in football).
People need to get out of the silly little world they live in and get welcomed to real life situations. E-Sports like any SPORT is about making money for the people at the top, not for being lovey dovy with RIVAL teams.
I'm a fan of EG. They're catching a lot of heat right now for simply having business practice that isn't naive. I laughed when I read that TLO called EG naive in his blog, EG's 'naivety' resulted in the capture of possibly the current best Terran player on this earth. I feel like the people raging at this have no understanding of how contracts and free agents in other sports function.

From what Alex has said Puma will be visiting the EG house prior to MLG's. It's likely that they want to fly him out a little earlier than most Koreans do in order to give him a couple days to adjust to the jet lag that comes with a 14 hour 12 timezone flight. EDIT: As for a more concrete visit, it's not quite as likely. Not to say it's impossible but it's more likely that Puma would be the foundation of a Korean Team/Teamhouse.

I honestly think that EG is just the whipping boy for SC2. They do a lot of things that catch heat (for good reason) but they are also the go-to team for haters to hate.
I'll still love the team, wearing my EG jersey and playing on my EG mousepad.

I think it is more telling that Sen teamkilled their entire team then them placing well in a tournament with no other "pro" competition besides Inka.

Sen is one of the very best players in the world, losing to him is by no means a big deal. Also, Idra won their first bo3, and DeMuslim and Axslav both won a game against him. Sure, it wasn't enough but it seems that they are improving.

I wasn't talking about what was said in the statement but the fact that they finally addressed the issue properly instead of doing it on a show that is de facto sponsored by them. This is a step in the right direction - and I hope next time they don't take so long.
Ok, so my knowledge of the club is a bit limited and i figure this to be a good place to learn.
I like to talk as though i know everything. On the topic of EG, there are many things to say. One of the facts i've grabbed out of my ass based on a very brief overview is that EG has never fostered a talent.
What leads me to say this is a look at EG's roster. Starcraft = picked up Idra and are now looking to recruit Koreans, keep a lot of players on the roster who play well but don't exactly go from a nobody to a somebody. Streetfighter = picks up Jwong, other players on the roster don't exactly blossom. CS 1.6 = have always had a potential to be the definitive NA team but the roster never stays together long enough and the players don't really exceed their individual potential while in EG.

This post could be read as a troll, but it's not intended to be one. I'm genuinely curious to learn some examples of players who've actually grown during their time in EG.
"Fostering talent" isn't all that common in Starcraft. The people who are going to be big are usually pretty obvious. You can even look at Korea for this. People knew Flash was eventually going to destroy, Baby was known to be an absolute beast at 14, even in the foreign market Tyler and IdrA were always comparative beasts, even before venturing to Korea. That's not to say that people like HuK don't come along and break the mold, but if you look back on the history of foreigners (that I know of) it's pretty clear that such a vast improvement is the exception not the rule.
In the FPS arena it tends to be a little different, but for some reason in RTS it doesn't, probably due to the myriad of ways you can develop holes in such a multifaceted game. Again, not to say there aren't cases of raising up talent, just that it's not all that common. A good thing to remember, especially for foreign (and especially more USA filled teams like EG) is that the player base hasn't been what it is now, we very well may see more teams foster talent, but chances are more likely that that part of the players growth will happen *before* being officially sponsored. I'm willing to be that there are talents right now being fostered on quite a few teams but it's behind the scenes in closed off practice games, not on the official team, if that makes sense.
tl;dr: The "growing up" part of a players career typically happens behind the scene and earns them sponsorship in the SC world and typically not something that occurs after signing.

You can say what you want about EG. They are being cynical evil geniuses and what not, but they make things happen. Their investment and approach to SC2 is not just good, it is great for e-sports. They are bringing in sponsors and money to the scene which is making it grow. Dont be fooled, Broodwar in Korea is what it is because of money and the same applies to SC2 as it applies to any "real" sport. We should be gratefull for teams like EG and FXO, their investments and engagement is making e-sports happen!

I love it how people oversimplify things. I'm not going to take a position on EG's transfer policy but it is not just about growth, it is about stable growth - because otherwise you end up with a boom'n'bust cycle, which leads to a crisis. There is a reason why all major sports team are billions in debt and there is widespread corruption in the governing bodies. Think about it, pay some attention to what acutally is happening in contemporary sports and read some history.
You can't really hate EG on the situation since it was stated Huk's contract was expiring and there wasn't a new deal in place. I just don't understand how TL could not come up with the money considering they have the most visited SC2 website out there. Maybe they should start looking for more sponsorship because TL should be out earning EG with ease...

I understand what you mean, but you need to realize that EG has roots in more than just Starcraft II. They're one of the most well-known eSports teams.
It'd be great if EG picked up a few more capable players or formed some sort of partnership with a Korean clan to participate in the GSTL. I love this move, sucks for TL but I was a fan of EG before, and this is icing on the cake.
Just watched an interview with moonglade from IEM. He said after leaving FXO he's not quitting sc2 and is willing to talk to other teams. I would really love to see him get picked up by EG. He's a really amazing player!!

Puma: obviously a beast, he will have the advantage of not being jet lagged compared to the other koreans. Idra: now that he practices again I've got some high hopes for him, he should have very good zvt practice against demuslim and puma which is good since he will have to face bomber and sjow in his group.However I'm not too sure about his zvz, machine hasn't been to hot lately.

well, to be fair, the training house started only 3 weeks ago. It is far to early to expect improvments. Hope the next day will get better results

Demuslim got up to CLR5, PuMa is in the championship winner's bracket, IdrA and Machine got up to CLR4 and HuK is moving to CLR6. A lot of this has to do with still being in the pool play games but still.
Obviously this isn't ideal, and maybe disappointing but they do have a damn strong showing in the championship brackets.

good MLG for EG imo, demu was way too awesome, won so much games and only losing to nada. Puma did great as expected, idra and huk were not as good as they could be. Pretty sad for incontrol tho, he has the potential for a top 8

Reading (because they weren't really casted! -_-) about Demuslim's run to 14th was so much more exciting then watching IdrA lose to Trimaster. There's just so much to cheer for when someone has to play so many games to get to the top. At least from an EG fan perspective.

As far as the NA MLG Global Invitational I think its IdrA's tournament to lose. The only players who can give him a run for the money are are Sheth and a motivated Tyler.
Dreamhack was painful to watch. It was so close, so awesome at times but had a disappointing result in the end. I wish Idra and Huk use the remaining time in Valencia or wherever to train like there's no tomorrow' and get over that final tiny bump that's keeping them back.

Yeah that was really cool. I'm surprised they don't have a dedicated coach though; it seems to work in Korean houses. It's like you don't just play a piece the best you can over and over to practice piano. You do scales, arpeggios etc.. to improve your core skills.
I guess we'll see how the results go but maybe it would make sense to do more focused practicing.

Every team has stronger and weaker, in- and out of form players. Even if Incontrol currently seems to be way behind his teammates, he would be able to prepare for a certain opponent or map and be used specifically for it.
And yeah, it would be great to have a foreign team complete in GSTL S2.

After 16 hours of constant work at the fucking Polish parliament election and later checking results of IPL and DEVASTATION, I would like to say, pretty goood results boys! And love you JWong, you are fucking baller.

In the days of DOTA1, when noone else even considered North America a source of internationally competitive DOTA players, EG took a risk and made a team comprised of a majority of NA players. It turned out to be one of the most successful teams in (international scene) DOTA history. Unlike so many other DOTA sponsors, to the best of my knowledge, they fulfilled their promises to the players. Their competitors at the time would endlessly make promises to the DOTA pros, then fail to pay, even after the players made hotel and flight reservations.

The only notable player is SaSe. I would say that both Inka and destiny have a lot of potential though, but obviously they havent achieved anything sc2 related just yet. I doubt its a partnership with QxG because it would be essentially just for SaSe.

Who was on their Dota team?
The team went through a lot of changes but the original roster was Whisper, Hitomi, Remstar, King, DogKaiser, Lopi and Orga. Later it completely changed. Fear eventually was on the team and with DeMoN, Merlini, Merc, Swiss and Azen were part of the roster when the team disbanded.

QxG.Inka was kicked off EG once, there is no gain for EG there. Destiny has a baby that is just a couple months old, I really doubt he would take off for Korea and leave the kid behind. I don't see any gain for EG here.

no. huk is moving out. in an interview, i dont feel like finding (it to damn late) he said when he goes back to korea he will be going to the EG place which will be announced soon.
i really feel like it a QxG and EG team funded train-house i don't see the teams merging or anything.

Well it's not Liquid's house it the oGs house hence it's oGs's decision to keep him around. Same as it's their decision to keep the Liquid guys around.

I really hope that EG participates as their own team in GSTL. If they play with Slayers, I feel like the EG players will play few actual games. I think EG could probably hold their own in a GSTL...Idra, Puma, Huk, Demuslim will all be in Korea and they could probably recruit a mercenary for the 5th spot if none of the other EG players are going to be in Korea at the time...

Although I dont see Sleep going to EG either, its not an unreasonable idea.
Sleep does want to sign with a foreign team, he could still live in the slayers house as an EG member due to the training partnership.
Can EG claim to be the strongest foreigner team? I think with the trio of Huk, Puma and IdrA they have a pretty strong claim. I think Mouz is definitely up there too but EG just might be the most accomplished even if they don't always win team leagues.

I used to hate EG, thinking they were the "bad guys" of esports. But I've come around! EG has become my favorite team by far, between Geoff infusing life and humor into everything he does and IdrA, HuK and Puma just being general bad asses, and now picking up JYP. The hype campaigns are always lots of fun and awesome.
I'm really enjoying these practice session streams. I learn a lot more from these streams than just watching one person, because it is a group of knowledgeable people talking strategy, instead of only getting one perspective.
Crazy how far ahead Demuslim is against machine in game sense and execution. Even in situations where he should have lost he finds a way to pull it out.
If CS:GO ends up going anywhere EG needs to reunite a certain old school CS player with his sword ..... then and only then, will EG return to their former glory!

Well after his transfer it was made clear that he wanted to stay at Liquid and only signed with EG because they offered him a ridiculous amount of money. So it's hardly surprising really.. Doesn't mean that he doesn't like EG - but he obviously loves Liquid.

Also we are not slumping, Huk took 3rd at MLG Arena and Puma has now taken 2nd at IEM/3rd at ASUS as well as nice showings from JYP narrowly losing to really good players in both (puma/hero).
Demuslim good showing at Arena, IdrA good showing (poor results sure) at arena etc etc

it was only a bad day, it isn't like eg is doing badly. i mean look at Demu and Puma at the NASL + Show Spoiler +
Puma is 7:0 and Demu is 6:0 including beating Hero. Multiply each win with 150 $ and you got a nice amount of won money. And reaching the regional finals is an achievment in itself additionaly with both Machine and Incontrol beating pretty good Koreans/amerikoreans

Lzgamer: I've heard his name mentioned quite a bit, but I have no idea what he looks like. He doesn't have any good results and I don't understand why he is even in the team to begin with. DEFINITELY DROP.
Machine: He has been in the team long enough to expect some performances above where he is currently at. He has some exposure from being in commercials, but really, I feel like a lot of people could be equally appealing as him in such contexts. He is a nice guy so dropping him would feel bad, but I don't think he is worth having on the team. PROBABLY DROP.
JYP: JYP suffers from the boring Korean syndrome. He was bought when he was a real rising star, but since joining EG he has been fairly mediocre. PROBABLY DROP.
Puma: Like JYP, Puma suffers from the boring Korean syndrome, and was bought as a rising star. However, unlike JYP, he has managed to scrape together good results while playing for EG. I feel like EG enjoy being able to bring up Puma's results so as to make each tournament where the rest of the team does shit not seem so bad. PROBABLY KEEP.
Huk: I think at the time Huk was acquired he was probably considered the best foreigner? His signing was appropriate at the time, but since then I feel like Huk has been a very bad team member, not necessarily in terms of performance (although he has clearly dropped off in that regard) but he doesn't seem to have the team spirit. I think he misses Liquid too much. That said, he has a large following and a good personality. PROBABLY KEEP (but decrease his pay or something)

JYP is just as good as puma, but yeah, LZgamer and Machine are seemingly useless. I'd like to know why they're still here since they've done nothing since even before Koreans first began to come at foreign tournaments. Machine's a great guy and a running gag with Idra, but that's not a good reason.
Next time you decide to write something like that, I'd leave it out of the Teams Fanclub lol.
A bad day, a bad tournament, or a bad week. That can happen. To any team. I really wouldn't jump the bandwagon so easily and cast some of its own members under the bus because of it. A vast majority of foreigners results have plummeted since the introduction of so many Koreans at tournaments abroad. Results being shown from EG may not be stellar as of late but if you look at everything they're doing you can see improvements being made. I think they're making the right steps to getting better results for many people on the team and to be honest I'd rather support them then make ridiculous posts in their fan club. Watch each player more closely and you may see what we can see. Whether its the rather elusive Lzgamer to their Ace Puma you can see improvements in their play or mentality. Nothing against Lz, just harder to keep track of him when he doesn't live in the Lair and we don't see him on everyone's stream.
I know I saw your player tags on your post. Just so many people seem to only look at the negatives and take shots at players, I tend to look positively as the opposite point on view. Not saying you were here to do that, just the way I choose to view EG and hope that their hard work pays off :D

I can see how you would come to these conclusions, but I don't agree with you and I think you are missing a lot of the team dynamic & the obvious ROI of players. I, too, don't understand the lzgamer situation entirely. A lot of the time he doesn't live at the house , so the expenses are obviously much more minimal on him than the others. He also doesn't attend a lot of events. So, I'm thinking(could be entirely off the ball with this) that since the cost is low, he's not really hurting them so much financially, so dropping him isn't something that is necessary.
Machine has a large following, streams regularly, is entertaining and brings in more viewers. There really isn't a reason to drop him at all.
I love EG, and have followed them and compLexity since the teams inception with counter strike,. It's pretty amazing what they've grown to be. I think the main issue right now is that the team house is an overly lax environment. It'd be nice if they just had a bit more organization with practice. I kind of place demuslim on the same pedestal as idra in that he has a ridiculous amount of potential that just needs to be harnessed. I don't think a korean teamhouse type environment is what they all need, but just something more regimented like 4-6 hours a day set aside for specific practice.

So you dropped people and now you replace them with.... well who?
Who do you want to replace them with? Who isn't bound by another team? Take all the foreigner teams you can think off, now you can probably think of one in each team that is actually good. The biggest teams like quantic and EG they have a few more great players.

DonRaegu? He was on the B team for sometime. There are ton of korean players who were terrible (San for the most popular example) and then suddenly rose. Korean teams have their B teams, foreigners to. It is just that Koreans have such a gaming culture that they have a ton more A level people.
If they never deliver, sure they will be dropped in time. But it is worthless speculating and not have a perspective on it while remembering that a team needs a B team.
Also TIL: Winning 2 NASL and been in Code S is mediocre.

I'm going to have to agree with Facultyadjutant. People look too much at achievements. If achievements were really the only thing, then why do teams even have "bad players"? It's because they're actually good, they just haven't made results for one reason or another.

while his intentions were probably good, and we was just expressing his opinion (which is fine) he doesnt appear to have a great understanding of what players really do, what/how they contribute, and how popular they really are.
-Puma: boring player? are you kidding? he has among the most agressive and hearstring tugging play of just about anyone...one moment, you thinking "Puma what are you doing!?!?!", then 30 seconds later "Puma, your a f*cking genius!". his multitasking is among the top 5 in the world, and his buildorders are just as diverse... oh, and if mediorce is winning 80 grand worth of prize money AFTER winning NASL season 1 (was on TSL) is "decent" you need your cranium checked... is he shy? yea... like every other korean... NONE of them are actually very social... MC/MKP/DRG including... oh and btw, besides obvious players like Idra, stephano and MKP/DRG, Puma had the largest (or very close to) crowds watching off the main stage at Anaheim. he had so many players watching that people had to go to the other side and watch the FPV of his opponents bc there was actually room over there, but as soon as he won, both sides would erupt in cheering. so he must not be too boring. to give you an idea, more people watched Puma v Alicia WHILE Sase v Polt was going on on the main stage than the MC v Monster game with noone on stage.
-same with Machine, while his run wasnt great at Anaheim, it didnt matter, he would hang out with the fans all weekend and watch games with us, and talk to us. i watched a set with Machine for about 45 minutes, Select, and MKP were sitting beside him as well, and during that time, more people approached him for his autograph than both of them combined. Keep in mind that MKP was hardly ever in the main area the entire weekend. so other than signing at a booth with DRG on the opening hour of day 1, not many people ever saw him. his following really is huge. and he really is that good. he just hasnt strung it together for a decent win yet.

last i checked, coming in as the anchor for GSTL for SlayerS and while they may be "partnered" he is not a real member of their team, so playing him would be apprehensive to start with, and scoring double wins to get them into the next round, and coming from the open bracket and into pool play was good for business

Finally, someone who knows his stuff and knows how to check facts. It is so annoying reading so many wrong comments on TL about EG.
and it really boogles my mind how so many people are always downplaying EG. I asure you, an EG player can win the GSL and people will find a way to try to downplay it.
EG is really succesfull and a pretty good and smart company. They know what they do.
The only thing i kind of disagree with you is Ret about red bull battlegrounds. Yes, he did beat very good players, but the reason nobody talkes about it is, that it was a very very small tournament (1k $) and he only had to face 3 players in the whole tournament, as he and the others of the invited 4 players started a round later. It is just not so comparebale with other tournaments, where you need at least 3 matches to get out of the pool play. Still, he did beat 3 of the best foreigne players (With Sase at the finals).

-same with Machine, while his run wasnt great at Anaheim, it didnt matter, he would hang out with the fans all weekend and watch games with us, and talk to us. i watched a set with Machine for about 45 minutes, Select, and MKP were sitting beside him as well, and during that time, more people approached him for his autograph than both of them combined. Keep in mind that MKP was hardly ever in the main area the entire weekend. so other than signing at a booth with DRG on the opening hour of day 1, not many people ever saw him. his following really is huge. and he really is that good. he just hasnt strung it together for a decent win yet.
-rest are obvious and dont need explanation. EG is REALLY strong right now, easily better than any other foreign team, even if 2012 had a rocky start
oh wow, these are some very interesting insides to the tournaments. It really makes me wish to be at an mlg. And that more people watched Puma than a foreigner is awesome (Puma is my favorite player).

-PuMa and JYP- FINALLY met Puma, he was happy, hes really shy, but i managed to catch them psuedo-alone. i told him "you my favorite player, i travel here just for you!" and he smiled shyly and did the "hand through his hair" thing he does when hes about to talk for a translator. and says "thank you!"i totally forgot how JYP was bc i was too busy swooning at Puma. id imagine he was cool though lol.
-Choya, Lucky, Leta (kespa player) and Oz- they were watching Puma vs Ret with me on the side stage. i was quiet for a bit bc the Koreans really didnt come out the crowd much at all after day 2 bc they ALWAYS got mobbed. so i let them be, after puma won the first game,i turned and said "Leta, i watch you in BW!" Leta looked alot differnt then his TLPD pic so im pretty sure almost noone recognized him, and when i said that he got happy/shy and said he was thankful and "he try to play good for me tonight". the other three were equally happy
-Bonus-Stephano- not korean, but jsut as bit as happy and friendly as you could imagine, he took pics and hung out with us EVERY day, and partied with us even, Kid is crazy, him and Bling are freaking hilarious when drunk. on the third night after everything around 1am, we were coming out of our hotel room party and he's the hall with 2 chicks, and he sees us, starts smiling and they start hurrying down the hall. and he trips bc hes drunk and we start teasing him the hall and hes laughing and he disappears into one of the rooms with them. ill let you make up the rest, but im pretty sure i knew what i saw lol.
one side note about the koreans that u may not realize on online. they all bascially know each other/are friends, and they all like to hang out. even with the kespa players and such. and its hard to interact with your american fans when its challenge to understand them, then where you start getting mobs by dozens of people. of course they start to retract and dont mix with the crowd. its an overload. hell the american players do it, and they can understand us.
i could tell you how Huk got kicked out of the arena for a while on day 2 if u want, funny, but not fan club-ish

If you guys haven't read Alex's post about how they pick members you really should. Its not always about the results that get them on the team, of course its a big part in it, but not always the top quality that allows them to choose who they choose

Overall, in my opinion, EG suffers from team-leagues, but they do amazing in individual leagues. HuK, PuMa both are quite talented at the NASL and JYP's performance at MLG is still top-notch.

so its day 2, towards the end, im getting out of the tastosis line for autographs(serioesly... that line was so long, there were nerds for days lol) and im walking past the open bracket play area. they fence off the open bracket so only players/media/coaches can enter. and if you get knocked out of the tourney, even as a player you arent allowed in, but they are lax about it, as long as you dont interfere and such. this area is the "the hangout" for players, they watch their teammates play or watch future opponents, etc. basically the rules get bent. as long as you're not a problem.
this was about 10ish minutes after huk got knocked out of the loser's bracket by Monster, he was upset (understandably) anyways, he was sitting on the table inside the area sulking, and must have been noisy or something, i may have missed the original reason, buuut
now this isnt perfectly ver batum, but you will definitly get the idea; the floor manager of MLG named Jason or Joel (something like that, dont remember exactly, one of the friends of mine who was also a team coach told me his name later but i forget) goes up to Huk and says 'Huk, you need to not sit on the tables, your technically not supposed to be in here" and HuK goes apeshit. "f*ck you man, i''ll do whatever i want" and then Jason gently put his hand on huk's shoulder trying to be civil/nice and that just set huk even worse "get you're f*cking hands off me you *&%$$, and other random cursing" then Jason is like "i dont care if youre HuK or not, youre out of here" and then Huk got kicked out and i didnt see him in the convention center for the rest of the day. he was back on day 3 though. so it wasnt permanent. but yea, Huk was salty as hell.
but yea, for those who think IdrA doesnt handle losing well, i have certainly never heard of him getting kicked out of the event lol
I feel sorry for EG (the overall team and the individual players) in a pinch; they keep buying big players with big money, but the players seem to have a hard time adapting and seem to be significantly worse than before their joining EG.

oh yea, and while not EG related, it was related to my earlier post. on Sunday, after the Finals, me and the friends decided to go get some food. it was this Hawaiian Fusion food restaurant called Roys. we are hanging out waiting for our food to arrive. when DRG and Alicia get seated at the table next to us. no joke lol, it was awesome. we didnt bug them though. we let them begin spending their 40k in peace. it was just funny how after DRG said 'good job, now go home" they were actually friends and there together.

EG doing great at DH. Puma, Huk advance to group stage 3. Thorzain appears to have a fairly easy group, Lalush + 2 ppl i have never heard of. JYP with bad luck only loses on series in the whole tourny but still gets eliminated . JYP will have a breakout tourny soon enough!

There has been lots of speculation over the past few months that EG were after Stephano and now it has been confirmed.
Stephano revealed in an interview today that he is negotiating with 3 teams. One of which is his current team Millenium, one is unnamed, the other is EG!

This just sickens me. EG does hell of a lot for the community by providing content and barcrafts and what not. More than any other team (TL doesn't count, as they are the monopole in the media). While that post is ironic, can you really blame him for saying that? It is sort of hard being an EG thread when there is alot of hate in general and alot of shit talking for when EG dosent do that well. I remember right after THorzain got signed, he lost to Lucifron in some 2GD tourny. Instead of praising Lucifron for his great play, many posts were just "EG CURSE LOLOLOL." Or when EG got RC as a sponser, many people in the thread (especially in the beginning) were criticizing EG for every little thing that they disagreed with. Most did not have any validity at all. So yes, posts like his are not good, but posting a condescending retort isn't much better.
The EG jersey on SPLITREASON is the ones EG wore at MLG Raleigh, with the Raidcall picture/symbol on it. Just thought you guys should know! Just in time for the new, supposed EG player(s)?

Just dropping by to say the only reason I bought Monster energy drink was because of EG. Was driving a long ride home while hungover and needed an energy drink, which I normally never drink. Had the choice between Monster and Burn. The latter was less than half the price, but I remembered EG and eSports and got the Monster.
It was Monster Rehab and I was pleasantly surprised. Would buy again. Also, when is Stephano going to Korea to win the GSL?!

Does team EG not have a manager or something??? You watch Interviews with Stephano and Huk and they both say they don't give a crap, are bored of the game, dont want to practice or play the game at all. I'm sorry but if i were paying these guys that amount of money i'd be pretty pissed after seeing them talk like that in interviews. I know they're all kids and probably don't know any better and never learned a work ethic but damn if i talked like that about my job and drug my ass all day i'd be unemployed.

I've always been a fan of EG. I can tell they are generally good caring managers that give a lot of leeway to their players and instead of making them work day and night they also give them a healthy balance of life and fun. It may not produce the tip top results but at least they treat their players like human beings and not robots. When Idra gets paid as much as he did, I can only imagine, after creating tension with his teammates like Demuslim and then still continuing that same attitude that they worked so hard to change for the better, what would you do in their shoes? Continue to shell out the kind of money they do for him when he makes them look like hypocrites. The situation really sucks in all honesty, but I don't blame EG for it.

I'm not quite sure how they treated him like crap - they simply released him. It's not like they tried to sue him for money or slander his name to make him unhireable. In terms of being released suddenly, who knows how many warnings and discussions have gone on behind the scenes.

I agree that releasing him was very sudden in a weird way, and I also feel like the particular comment he made wasn't bad enough to warrant releasing him. It's worth mentioning, though, that they will continue to support him financially for a transition period, as far as I've heard.

And what did IdrA really say? That fans don't care about winning, rather they care about starpower. Was he right or was he wrong?
Now EG is just Stephano, a few koreans that get all killed in proleague and some high priced, mid range westerners that never win anything either.

I am sure they asked him to apologize, but seeing as that is below IdrA's honor he probably refused to do it and they made him quit. Imo you can't get more professional than that.

I don't get why everyone believes Idra and only Idra was powerful enough to make EG what it is today, it's mind blowing. As if it's not a two way street. The commercials with Idra, having him drive the Bugatti for marketing, playing down any bad attitudes by him to salvage and make the most of something dumb he did like leaving the mma game at mlg. It was a two way street, EG put a lot out for Idra also and helped make him what he was and helped glorify his persona to the point where the whole team was practically synonymous with him. He is not the B all end all, and EG deserves some credit for his career as well not just the other way around like most people make it out to be.
It takes a brilliant team that cares about it's players to play down such a dumb prideful moment where he just leaves a won game and turn it into a fun positive with the whole teams collaboration. People were pissed then, but with EG's help they let it slide and really rooted for him again when he came back on top to beat bomber and boxer and went into his booth to encourage him during either the MC game or one of the terran games. It went both ways, they believed in him, the invested in him even after his mistakes because they believed in him, I'm sure his salary was as high as the tournament champions they'd bring in up until the very end even after he stopped giving a flying f*ck a long time ago sadly.

While half of EG's fans may have been brought to them by idra, I'm sure some of them can see that EG is doing more for the growth of the scene than idra and will continue to support them despite this move (I don't see why you couldn't remain fans of both sides). This could have been the best wakeup call EG could send idra, since nothing else was working.
It is hard to remains supportive of both when they treated him like crap on his way out the door. The part of me that likes idra resents that on his behalf. It is a shame when any organization treats anyone that way.
I agree that releasing him was very sudden in a weird way, and I also feel like the particular comment he made wasn't bad enough to warrant releasing him. It's worth mentioning, though, that they will continue to support him financially for a transition period, as far as I've heard.
1. Garfield's comments (ie final paragraphs in his post) were unnecesssary and unprofessional; it was genteel character assassination (which is much worse than the vanilla variety).
2. All we've heard on finances is a blip comment from Geoff that was sourced from a brief skypechat while he [Geoff] was emotionally upset. It isn't possible for us to know if the renumeration is substantial. In any event, it doesn't excuse (1) above.
Idra was by far the most recognizable player they had. Love or or hate him he drew attention to himself and his team. I think they'll come to regret letting him go.
For me at least, with him gone I have no interest in EG. I've never liked Alex, and I've never liked their habit of picking up FotM players. They're a nothing team with a lot of sponsors.

Hearing from incontrol today what EG is doing even after Greg's departure and EG's managements reactions I take back all bad things I might have said about the team!
It is not the same as before without idra, but they do prove that they still care about their players.

I completely agree with carmacs statement, the pressrelease the community got invites for an emotional and non-analytical response. Even teamliquid parting with SEA was better constructed.

Honestly I don't agree with any of that other than the first two sentences. This was far from being the first incident with Idra. He called the fans a bunch of fucks, doesn't matter that he didn't mean it. Also, HuK is always doing fairly well, Suppy looked great in his WCS groups, and Thorzain and Demu are getting back into shape in sc2 it seems like. Also Jaedong is starting to look extremely good but wit one hell of an Achilles heel of ZvP

What happened to Machine? I know he is alive, but did he retire? He does not compete since 2011 but how is he still on EG? I don´t try to be offending or anything like that, it just interests me. Normaly a player gets on a team like EG if hes good or if hes popular with streaming ect. or not? Not sure if i am right. But Machine does not stream, does not play in torunaments and it interests me how he can stay on EG and how he pays his living? Can´t imagine a professional player can pay everything without streaming or winning money in torunaments.
