To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
  • Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
  • When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
  • No reposting of old material unless justified
  • Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
  • No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
  • Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
  • No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
  • No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
  • Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)

Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

One thing I've never understood about K-Pop is why people live sing it? Either they are lipping the song or it sound terrible. However great dancers and not a half bad song!

Congrats to Girl's Day for putting out their first good single since Nothing Lasts Forever. They've come a long way.

if you're trying to say that minah's vocals are bad then fuck you

Pulselol you made me legitimately laugh ~.~
Pucca you obviously haven't listened to enough live performances to be able to even judge or make such a bs generalization

I actually decided to give it a relisten after your post. Actually don't mind most of the song but its the chorus and the random talking parts that I still don't like. Lol third time and now even those parts aren't that bad...

I don't understand the logic behind this.

It's like you were starting to like kpop and feeling the thrill of discovering your bias but then, some friend comes along and makes fun of you. Caught between wanting his or her approval and fear of being outcast, you quickly decided to give up your newly found bias. Now you're torn from being humiliated for having a girl you admired, and the shame of throwing away the feelings for the girl and music that you liked.

I'm not saying that's at all what happened, it's just something I thought. Maybe I'm just in the mood for a sob story ^^

But "before I realized how it made me look/feel." what does that even mean? I can understand that in the eyes of some, it can make you look creepy/weird but I don't get the "feel" part. For me, my bias only makes me feel great. The way she positively influenced my outlook and lifestyle really makes me thankful and I want to work harder and become a better person so that I can, maybe, one day inspire someone else as she did for me. Sure I spend a lot of time in the day keeping up with her recent pictures, performances, and activities, but I'm sure I'd find an equally or even less productive way to spend my free time regardless.

Thanks to her, I started working out routinely, challenging myself to improve my korean, trying not to swear, finding the value is being nicer to people (even those I don't like), eating healthier, dressing better, etc etc. The improvements of pre-Taeyeon to post-Taeyeon Xenocide_Knight are really innumerable. I know it's a little weird to have a "bias" and it's certainly able to be considered obsessive to some.

But I always remember what she said,
“So that they will never be ashamed to call themselves SNSD fans, we must truly work harder.” and I show my thanks by never being ashamed to call myself her fan. And of course, my new life motto
"So that my parents, friends, and all those who associate with me will never be ashamed of me, I must truly work harder."

Making a song grow on you doesn't really say much about the song though. You can say a song is good or bad on your first listen. You can make yourself like or love a song more the more you listen to it but that doesn't make it better than when you first heard it.

I loved it the first time I listened to it, and still do. I think we should all stop talking about this song though; It's clear that everyone has a very very varied opinion on it, so we should leave it at that

Describing Flower Power with this. What am I reading?
Actually describing most kpop songs with this is hilarious.
It's either catchy, or it's not, that's sort of the whole point of pop songs. If the first 5 listens don't get you hooked, trying to brainwash yourself by blaring it over 9000 times, and forcing yourself to like it is pointless
Sunny, cuz always relevant.

Making a song grow on you doesn't really say much about the song though. You can say a song is good or bad on your first listen. You can like or love a song more the more you listen to it but that doesn't make it better than when you first heard it.

Actually, some of the best songs get more impressive each listen, as you slowly understand the beautiful complexities that lie within them.

its actually not that bad

I actually decided to give it a relisten after your post. Actually don't mind most of the song but its the chorus and the random talking parts that I still don't like. Lol third time and now even those parts aren't that bad...

I don't understand the logic behind this.
"I dislike this song, it doesn't really have any redeemable qualities. sec, instead of taking another listen and dropping it like an ugly baby, lemme loop this for hours on end to see if I like it."

whack as fuck.

it grows on you
and i havent looped it for hours. i've just listened to it every now and then and it has just begun to grow on me
its nowhere as good as All My Love is for You, but it's not as terrible as i first made it out to be

I realize that some artists might not click right away, and this holds especially true for kpop.
For example, Poison was mediocre to me when it came out, but I run across it more until I like it almost as much as Mado double en ay. This isn't the same as a track that's horrible the first go around, then forcing yourself to listen to it multiple times before you get an inkling of attraction to it.

To force yourself to listen to a track multiple times just for the sake of liking a group doesn't show dedication, it's delusional. It's like saying "well this gurr be annoying as hell and ugly as sin but maybe if I spend every day with her, we might form a bond or some lovey dovey shit might blossom!"

It's not that horrible. I'd say it's more like dealing with your best friend's new annoying girlfriend out of respect for him. You can't for the life of you imagine what he sees in her but whatever. Over time, she grows on you and you actually become reasonable friends
