If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

Well 1.11 is essentially just the rehash of like the first six episodes of NGE, just more compact and visually superior. I think your opinion of the first movie is about the same to your opinion of the first couple eps in NGE.

2.22 is where most people get split. I'm actually really baffled why so many Eva fans hate the shit out of 2.22 for just being some fanservice-y, out of character, schlocky film. It almost feels like they never watched the original Eva at all.

3.33 has Shinji x Kaworu piano time. 10/10 would watch again. xD

I think I can kind of understand the point of the third movie as a number of different departures Anno was working with. I have a lot of pet theories about this.

But at the end of the day. I don't blame people for being really let down by the fact that the third movie hinged on just trolling. Nothing at the end of the 2.22 trailer happened in the third movie. + Show Spoiler +
Weird piano shenanigans. Asuka is supposedly like 35 but with the appearance of a 14 yo old??? NERV has some split and Misato is like edgelord captain of some ragtag anti-Gendo brigade.

YYH deserves to be watched from beginning to end. Every episode. It does the best at building the characters and giving everyone skin in the fights.

I tried FMAB but it didn't take. Heard great things, just wasn't for me.

Eva is a mess to me. It repeats the stories, adds characters, removes some. One of the movies has some weird shit going on with Shinji and Asuka. It was all just pretty fucked up.

Early FMAB isn't as good, because all that material had already been covered before in the 2003 anime, so Brotherhood sorta rushed through that stuff to get to the new, uncovered material. IIRC it takes like a dozen episodes or something. The early stuff isn't bad or anything, but its definitely not the same quality as the rest.

I don't think they rushed it. They rushed it compared to the 2003 anime but that was because the 2003 anime added quite a fillers in the early episodes while FMAB stayed true to the manga. In the end I think the beginning in FMA was pretty boring regardless of which adaption you are talking about so I enjoyed FMAB more because it got into the meaty stuff quicker - and it didn't fully derail after 30 episodes like FMA '03...

FMA '03 derailed since it was ahead of the manga. It had to come up with a conclusion instead of waiting a couple years for the manga to finish. Thus the whole difference in final bosses between FMA '03 and FMA:B. I felt that FMA '03 had a darker tone to it and really delve into the arc with Nina. oh the feels.

One thing about the FMA '03 series is that it started to diverge really early on. There were a lot of breadcrumbs dropped from the first handful of episodes.

Which is good, because it came together as a coherent storyline instead of a 1:1 adaptation that suddenly has to make up an ending.

I linked this the other day to Numy but figured I might as well post in here as we do have a lot of people into monogatari:

Some madman decided to try and translate Atogatari. Atogatari ("ato" meaning "after"), is the radio-series (is it actually radio? Might be specials for the BD or something like that) that runs after each arc. Basicly, they make 2 people that are important in the arc sit together and talk about for roughly an hour.
It's not your usual japanese "everyone is screaming and talking over each other" kind of radioshow but they actually let each other talk and discuss things, rather than just being super hyper and carry by lots of emotions and laughter.

It's not translated in it's entirety but just little clips because... it's literally 60 minutes and noone is going to suffer through translating that. If someone wants I do have the individual, complete ones but without subtitles.
Anyways here goes 3 links, and judging from the fact that it's from 3 days ago chances are the guy will translate more:

worth the watch if you're into monogatari imo. Interesting to hear the take from the people who are involved in this on a lot of things.
Like (spoiler?) + Show Spoiler +
in one of the Koimonogatari clips they talk about how Kaiki tells Hitagi that she'll just break up with Koyomi once they graduate anyways and then Saitou Chiwa, as the person herself, shouting DA YO NE
made me laugh so badly.

Coherent is really not a word I would use to describe FMA 03 because the original part in the end was a freaking incoherent disaster...

I really need to catch up before the Anime ends. ~20-30 episodes behind.

It's all so good. No filler. Straight action and story. They're not gonna Bleach or TG this anime/manga.

I kinda got stuck with the slip arc last year. Is it worth watching from where i left off or jump straight to the new arc?

I recently started watching Wolf's Rain with a friend because I had it on my hard drive, ready to watch offline. We are at ep15 now and I'm still not sure what to think. I don't really dig the characters. The world seems super cool but they don't delve into it enough for my taste. The answers to the questions that come up are satisfying but the way they are presented are mostly kind of random. Like, why would you hold back some information for so long when you then just create a random character or meeting out of nowhere that tells you everything at face value? Seems to me they had some cool ideas but botched the adaption into a story. Well, I'm still interested to see with what kind of ending they came up.

Slip can be skipped. But pick up immediately after. It only gets better. Shinsengumi farewell I think is the last one before the silver soul arc.

As long you watch the few arcs leading up to the current one, you should be good. Shogun assassination arc shinsengumi farewell, and the fight on the Yato home world. Those three and then silver soul.

Ive watched everything but the Slip arc and the newer (2018) arcs. Thanks!

Overlord episode8 was quite good. Seeing, or rather hearing + Show Spoiler +
Entoma's voice in the end made for a really good ending to that whole part. Sad, I quite liked the girl who needed gold but obviously everyone had to die. I was secretly hoping that she at least could maybe end up an ally the same way the village girl did but there was no way for that to happen after they went into the tomb. Then I get hopes up when she gets mercy only to realize that that means she'll die.
Quite nice background music during that whole scene. Idk, to most people it's probably just standard "sad piano tune" but was fitting nicely.

Wonder where this is going from here considering that there's not that many episodes left

There's a post-credits scene that sets up the next arc. Ains is going public.
