At least you watched the new ones I guess lol, would have been really weird if you did the originals. I haven't watched the new movies myself because I can't muster any give a shit to watch anything more from that series but yea probably should have watched the series first.

Thus, he begins his life as a high school student once more." Damn.. Target audience much? I've read the manga for awhile. And while it was good/decent, I stopped reading it (for some months now). It feels like the story isn't progressing fast enough.

Mostly because it's aware of the severe creep factor of a middle-aged man hidden amongst teenagers, the protagonist is a pervert, and he's under constant supervision the whole time. Still a very wish-fulfillment kind of series, but much more of a "one more year to become socially integrated" kind of way, opposed to the "become a teenager and make out with girls" thing.

That Gainax had the nerve to retcon everything for movie 3 was basically a kick in the balls.

Overall, this serie got me confused... People like to talk about how deep and philosophical Eva is. But the series makes far more sense if you know: 1) Budget sucked in the last episodes. 2) Director had a legit psychological breakdown around the last third.
