I read an entry on a OP wiki regarding sugars fruit 'Hobi Hobi no mi' or the Hobby Hobby fruit. In this entry, it said that the user gains the power to turn people into toys, and gives the user seeming immortality, as we've seen. However, the entry also seemed to give the impression that all the abilities are completely unrelated or unexplainable. I object to this.
I wonder if the hobby no mi isn't just a fruit that turns your actual hobby into a devil fruit power. For example, her hobby was that of a child, playing with / making toys. That way, it'd make more sense that next to being able to turn people into toys, she also stays a child. There are some elements that still aren't entirely clear, but it'd make a lot more sense than if someone just ate this fruit and gained those specific abilities. I mean, why would it be called a 'Hobby-fruit', right? So the other powers might be explained in a similar line of thinking. (or they might just have been convenient for the author at the time).
In any case, assuming you could turn your hobby into a power, what would it be?

Not doing anything, I guess. :D

Seems more like a childhood fruit or something. Toys + eternal youth. Hobby is too much a stretch to get toys from.

EDIT : Mastu mastu fruit... good one! That would be the... Nuku Nuku no mi.

Hahah barto shows his true colors in the anime and it's perfectly done
E: this episode was great. Rebecca is totally joining the straw hats
|
No Rebecca 2014, or any year really. Rebecca is so boring.

Agreed. She's basically just another eye candy that actually has some skills with a sword. Though I guess the ship is missing a really capable female ya know?
Vote goes to Jimbei, Kinnemon or Kuros. Heck Barto is pretty awesome I'd be happy with him joining too.

Robin can literally stomp people, now
|
No one of any consequence though. They are pretty strong if you are only taking into account females though. There are only a handful of females capable of being relevant in the new world if you are talking strictly combat strength.
|
And Rebecca can't beat anyone of any consequence, so I'm not seeing how shes any more capable.
|
I would say she has potential to if she actually was into fighting. She doesn't care for fighting or adventure though and she doesn't have any other skills that would let her fit in with the crew meaningfully. Which is why she has 0 chance to join the crew.
|
You could say the same thing about Robin, and even Nami. I just don't see what makes Rebecca any more capable in a fight.
|
Robin imo is capped because her fruit is hard to balance plus its limited by her own strength when she generates limbs. It basically got out scaled by the level of the enemies. Nami has room for growth because it is based strongly on her weapon so its easier to have Franky or Usopp upgrade it or she figures out a new way to use it but its still limited in raw power (unless she channels the power of Enel).
Rebecca now could easily defeat them 1v1 and maybe even 2v1. Except for the fact I stated earlier in that she doesn't like fighting and limits herself.
I am talking strictly on combat potential, Rebecca has front line fighter potential. Robin/Nami are not built for front line fighting at this level.

also absolutely no way Rebecca could take either of them, she has no ability to actually attack at all and both of them are seasond ranged attackers (plus Robin can teleport)
maybe she could take out Nami with her speed but theres no chance against Robin
|
Did you read my post? I said her style limits her. If she didn't limit herself to a judo style based on counter attacking she would absolutely stomp Robin and Nami. I was talking about potential which she obviously has but she has no interest in it.
|
I dunno, I think the ability to generate giant massive giant limbs to stomp things like shes using Gear Third, in addition to flying and teleporting, make Robin pretty beastly in a fight, and more of a threat than Rebecca.

even if she had experience in attacking Robin would deal with her just as easily as she dealt with pel

Rebecca is several magnitudes stronger then Pel.
