Up to that point it was something like 1.5-2 chapters per episode and after Enie's lobby it's roughly 1 chapter = 1 episode. I knew it wasn't my imagination. it did become slower paced. Nami's arc was so good it basically justified nami as a character. While Enies Lobby/Water 7 still the best arc ever at least in my opinion. Alabasta and Skypeia arc was chaotic but was made more better with anime. That's just my opinion though. | ||

Simply because for the vast majority of the Enies Lobby arc in the anime, it was basically 10+ minutes spent going over what happened in the last episode or five, and only a short amount of time actually delivering new stuff. Really bogged down the pace for me even though the actual content itself was fine. Fortunately they stopped pulling that BS and started making proper episodes again. Nowadays, for me the manga is like reading the script before the anime comes out. Both are enjoyable. Especially parts like when Luffy went back to Marineford with Raleigh to ring the bell. The manga didn't say much about that event but the anime fleshed it out a fair bit. Side benefit of not trying to put too many chapters into one anime episode, I suppose, though all a matter of taste. | ||
