They're marines that actively look to protect people, this can also be applied to Fujitora, Garp hell even Sengoku seemed like a good guy. Bad pirates? You've got plently of those. That's the beauty of one piece. ^^ Completely agree. Even Aokiji during his time as Admiral was a good guy who even went as far as letting the crew and Robin go. That for me is one of the reasons why One Piece is so unpredictable. You have entire organizations, crews, etc. that stand for something but then you have a ton of different characters in it, all of whom have their own views and personality but in the end strive for that overall same goal. Not only is it more interesting and diverse that way but Oda can pull his magic tricks through these personalities, which he does quite a lot.

Shanks has 10 times less people then WB and was considered his equal... Ben Beckham would be enought for kidd's crew

But as others have said, One Piece is a gray world. Apart from purely evil and non-redeemable people (rare in effect, even dofla has some good qualities) and innocent and good-hearted people (which are really rare too, from what we've seen when it comes to racism etc), there really isn't much black and white.

And for all we know Luffy's crew is the only one that tries its best not to kill people. We haven't seen enough of other "good guys" yet to be sure.

Her backbreaking doesn't seem to be of the lethal sort (compare to cutting people up), and more akin to knocking people unconscious. That's just what se wants you to believe!

The filler was a fight between Smoker and Donflamingo something everybody would want to see, but the manga skipped to save time. You almost got me worried that they skipped the entire fight in the anime and I was gonna be pissed. Had to read that twice to make sure lol.

On the topic of pirate crews that try not to kill people: I'm catching up with the anime right now after reading the manga about 3 times now. Not sure if he says this in the manga too, but in the anime Fisher Tiger specifically ordered his crew to avoid killing. Of course individuals take that order how they will, but the sentiment is not unheard of in One Piece.
