The dragons were quite cute and I scared the neighbourhood letting out a true nazgulish scream from the balcony afterwards. I tought the fire scene was realy nicely done ^_^
We've seen fire awaken, we've seen ice ride out. The table is set for some Fun \o/
Edit: I like how Tywain carries himself, if todays politicans would don battle armor and started emitting badassery like that, Id listen to them

I see you guys are just fine with the "dire wolves" being some normal sized dogs, or should we start discussing that too?
Or why does the "showmakers have the creative freedom to adapt" applies to the direwolves but not to dragons? The thing is... I have never seen a dire wolve. Not in games of thrones or elsewhere (well, the mother, but the true size was hard to get from that whiteout rewatching). If you don't read the Book you don't really know how big Direwolves are supposed to be AND you don't know if their grown out yet. They seemed to grow really fast during Season 1, so i have no reason to believe that they are allready grown up.
you actually do see the mother of the direwolves and she is somewhere between as big to twice as big as a tiger... which is fuckin massive by the way

you know what, just for you overly sensitive whiners I'll get rid of my special name so people can report me. the fact is I'll probably end up banned for saying something like I did but you know what, that's fair, so whatever. I don't really care because jesus christ some of you are like the most sensitive people ever looking for anything to possibly be upset about, and if I get banned for something like that when my intention is actually jest then I don't want to be posting here anyways.
I never actually asked to be unreportable but according to kennigit it has something to do with my colored name so I guess I have to get rid of it.

Hi guys, really funny discussions.
Just wanted to say, I haven't read the books, but I haven't found any problems with the series. I don't have any problems with hot girls not losing their hair in fire. Sorry about the tons of scenes with Ros' boobs, those were put in there for people like me. I also think dragons look cooler with frontlegs with wings attached than with four legs and wings on their backs.
The action has been just about right, I love that this is CoD and not Halo (the best player can die in one bullet). The acting, especially the children has been very pleasing, surprisingly so. I thought the character development was done very well, and didn't think the first few episodes were as slow as many others did.
I can't wait for the next season, so much so that I will probably end up buying the books.
As far as the conflicts on here between TLers... it's pretty natural, some people are very (some would say too) particular about details and others are more flexible in artistic license. I don't think any lines were crossed and I think everyone could benefit from taking a step back and laughing at the conversation they were a part of... we are a very funny community of nerdy people and one of the best attributes of our community is that we can have heated debates and not let anything get personal.

Stop being such a fucking baby please.
This thread is about Game of Thrones, not about your special name.

I don t know, i can report you, it might not send it, but the button is there. Btw all the whining about minor changes or hicups bothers me too, not the direwolf though, im pissed as well that the monstous beasts are replaced with puppies.

Not sure why you would have a policy like that. Books are always better than their adaptations. There's so much more in the character relations that the series didn't have time to show. And they skipped out a lot on the fighting too, probably due to budgetary limits.

They're not fully grown yet. Male wolves reach their adult size at ~3 years. I know it's hard to get a sense of time with the way the show is made, but I doubt it's been 3 years.
The showmakers said in a recent interview that the wolves will be at least partly CGI in next season, so I guess we'll see then if they're still too puny.

I am guessing that the first season lasted less than but maybe near to a year?

If you use the pregnancy as a timeline then that sounds about right.

Probably a little bit less than that. But it seems to me westeros and the dothraki planes might not be perfectly in sync. Because of the instant letter delivery to Jorah and back ^^ so I guess we can be off a little bit.

The show's dragons are much slimmer and leaner and look like they actually might be capable of flight.
First things first. Every biologist worth their salt knows that a dragon's wings are the vestigial remnants of their evolution from airplanes. Dragons can't fly... when you see them fly in a movie, guess what. The producer of that movie is a liar. If you read it in a book? The author is a liar. And, if you saw it in a TV show? GUESS WHAT. Liars. Dragons don't fly. This is common knowledge.
Secondly, those things they showed on Game of Thrones? Those are called salamanders. Not dragons or wyverns or frodos or munchkins. Salamanders are the "Teen Wolf" version of dragons invented by a guy named Alfred Sally in the late 19th century in his story, "A History of the Flamed Lizards." That story was fictional and Alfred Sally was a goddamn liar. Salamanders jump high, get lots of chick salamanders, and are generally miniature badasses. However, don't believe anyone that tells you they're going to be flying or breathing fire or anything like that. Rofl, I almost forgot. Anyone ever seen a dragon breathe fire in a movie? Liars.
Finally, who cares about salamanders? No one. I've never seen a bunch of people worshipping anyone because they caught some salamanders. That scene pissed me off because it wasn't realistic. Maybe if they had given that chick a semi-automatic bow, I could have believed everyone was bowing down to her.

It's been something like 8 or 9 months over the course of season 1. They've been fiddling with the timeline, as adaptations tend to do, but it's pretty close (except for one giant leap which threw me off a bit). The wolves get about as big as a horse (and still not fullgrown /booktalk) so short of some insane genetic experiments, we'll have to live with CGI, but I don't mind. They did a great job with the dragons.

Sucks that Khal Drogo died but I liked the ending. I also especially liked "The King of the North" scene.
