I think because he is the central character to Book 1 (i.e. the show). He is what holds the kingdom together pretty much throughout the season and when he dies things start really unraveling. It's understandable that you don't want him to die because he has all the qualities of a man that people admire, but at the same time he NEEDS to die just so that everything can go to hell and there can be 6 more books to write. By "you" I mean the public . I kind of see this season as being just a "the story so far" type narrative and Ned's death as being the crucial event that propels everything forward. Great show. | ||

He manipulated her and Eddard with his story about the knife's origins, which led to her taking Tyrion to the Vale. The blood is on Petyr Baelish's hands... and I don't think he minds too much. | ||

No, it's just Westeros, and i wouldnt really compare it to the Foreign Legion, since most people there are part of it as a punishment, or because they had nowhere else to go, also they dont get a salary for that. | ||
