As for this chapter, it was basically a bunch of flapping mouths. There was no plot progression and it was basically a giant advertisement for the next chapter which will also probably have nothing in it. Let's summarize, shall we? + Show Spoiler + 1. Gambler meeting. Says that the last round didn't count. Basically means that the past few chapters were nothing but fan service for the "who is da stronger" debate. Then a bunch of banter about nothing to try and create the illusion of character development. Someone has a crush on Koon? What? So basically more filler before we can get to the actually interesting bit. 2. Androssi wandering aimlessly. 4 pages of "oh no I was lied to." 3. Meeting between Baam and hat guy. Hat guy says "let's go underwater to find a cool thing" Baam says "ok". This whole part is 7 pages and is the only part that actually gives us some sliver of plot progression. 4. Koon says he has a plan to win the filler tournament. Instead of saying it then he has to say it now for some reason. This does nothing but break up the progression of the chapter. 5. Rak goes to find Baam. It takes him 6 pages to walk around a corner. Finally meets Baam. There is no fighting and no dialogue, the chapter just ends. SIU is a master at filler. He fills in large spaces in between his panels with a lot of white. He fills in his chapter with a lot of nothing. It takes 30 something pages for someone to have a conversation with someone else and it winds up being about nothing. I like this manga but the pacing probably worse than Berserk right now. | ||
