The thing is Jura was hyped up like crazy like being the Top 5 Wizard Saints.
It just doesn't seem right that Laxus won fairly " quickly" and " easily ".
Mashima should have put more panels of them battling instead of wasting panels on Mavis doing her cheesy nakama speech.
P.S Laxus Dragon Secret Technique display was a freaking letdown.

He did mention that pre-timeskip he wasn't as strong as Makarov. Seven years of training though, he should have overtaken everyone. Was he has strong as gildartz though? Makraov was also on his old age and what not and Laxus probably could have taken him on if it wasn't for the father/son thing. Always been under the impression Gildartz was stronger than Makarov, I mean, even considering Gildartz beat Blue Note. Also Gildartz only lost his limbs fighting acnologia so I'm pretty sure gildartz is pretty insane (how people comment on how crazy gildartz is when he releases his full power, vs Makarov where no one really comments on it) I would think that Makarov was the strongest of the guild. When he fought Hades, Hades used what is I'm guessing the strongest Amaterasu spell, while he didn't use many named spells vs Laxus. I'd think that Bluenote is also weaker than Hades by quite a bit, so I'm only guessing that Gildarts wouldn't be able to handle that level of magic either. Also, when Makarov was fighting Acnologia, he managed to hold it back for quite some time despite being terribly injured. Just something to consider. Everyone else in the guild didn't even make it budge.
Gildartz fought Acnologia 1v1 and remarked that Acnologia wasnt even fighting seriously on the island so Gildartz is definently abov Makarov

Care to link that chapter. I don't remember him saying anything of the sort. He was surprised when Gildarts defeated bluenote as he didn't think there was anyone other then him who could defeat bluenote but i don't think a comparison was ever made between the two.

I started reading Fairy Tail two days ago. Nearly 200 chapters in!
The plot seems to move a lot faster than that of the Big 3. Fights end really quickly that I feel should be taking longer. Overall though, quite satisfied with this manga.

I also think Erza might be my favorite female character out of all the Shonens.

Although, we've seen some pretty short fights in this tournament, like Erza vs. the 100 monsters and Laxus vs Raven Tail. Still, Gildarts vs. dragon would take less than a page. :3
