Natsu vs Zeref after Mavis sacrifices herself to return Zeref to his normal state. Or Mavis finds a way to release Natsu from being E.N.D.

But I agree that some characters should die. The Spriggan 12 were interesting but got rushed through to get to Acnologia vs Dragonslayers.

Also, the other guilds (Sabertooth mostly) has been wiped. Their bodies were being paraded around. I don't see Fairy Tail surviving August and then I don't see them getting past the 2nd in command.

when this arc started we were made to think that any ONE of the spriggan 12 could pretty much wipe out all of fairytail solo.
Now we have FT members killing spriggan 12 people 1x1. (and even in 1 hit in natsu's case)

FT just beating them like they always beat everyone wouldn't make much of an ending in my mind.

I understand Natsu one hitting them. With the most troublesome out of the way (Brandish and her shrinking ability) it was only a matter of time. I also think Gildarts and Makarov team up to fight August.

Gildarts is the hardest counter to August imaginable so i would be surprised if he doesn't turn up to save the day.

Gildarts possesses crash magic. A magic which nullifies and reduces the magic power of anything to zero. Honestly a magician who knows maybe more magic than any other and is respected as the strongest of anyone is the perfect fight for a truly vastly powerful person who is know far wide as the strongest in "the west" and specializes in a magic that nullifies everything he comes into contact with and can make the main character drop to his knees through sheer intimidation...

Gildarts is perfect for August and if not then he wont be appearing until after where we will get some "comic relief" of him returning wondering why the guild looks different again.

If this really is the final arc, and if we do not get an actual LEGIT FIGHT SCENE OF GILDARTS then I will never forgive Mashima.

Natsu? I would really like a quick flashback (1-2 chapters) of what he did for training. He didn't just unlock Igneel's power by wishing to become stronger. Did he fight a lot? Train with Gildarts or someone else a couple times? What did he do exactly to get that OP status?

I think Gildarts comes near the end of the battle with August. Makarov sends everyone away and he takes on August alone. Being close to defeat, Gildarts shows up and after seeing the Master beaten, takes on that power level he showed Natsu at the S-Class promotion arc. They fight to a stalemate and then Acnologia shows up and August and Gildarts team up to battle him. By that time, Zeref arrives, Gray takes on the 2nd in command, and then we enter the home stretch.

I'm not saying he goes looking for those two, but he's part of the battle. Zeref vs Natsu vs Acnologia. He's hunting dragonslayers, so he'll be wherever they are. I think Gildarts and August are in the middle of fighting when that happens.

I think Jellal uses Grand Chariot he'll decimate. But he hasn't really shown his full fighting strength since the Tower arc and his quick battle in the Grand Magic Games. Who knows what else he is hiding.

But definitely an OP power to be sure.

Jellal is the only character that Fairy Tail needs. There have been three of him already. Why not 4? 5? 6? 20?
Imagine 30 Jellals. They would be an unstoppable force. 40 Jellals can just decimate Zeref and his army. Who could possibly win 1 vs. 50?
