Because he had just respawned from the aegis and there is a brief period of time when that happens where you can cast spells before you can be targeted. So he timed it so it went off during the respawn animation before he was frozen by the chrono. | ||

You know how when you run into chrono in the side it doesn't insta-lock you but instead you actually have a splitsecond to turn around or still cast stuff but if you stand still or continue moving it locks you? Maybe it's something like that and that you can get instant spells like whirling axes, ES ult or even BKB still off /edit, guess I'm wrong considering what was mentioned above | ||
