Any decent mid player will be able to completely dominate a sniper in last hits except for RNG ones. Basically all he has going for him is harassment potential and can eventually kill that mid tower, which is nice. But if i'm supporting in a game against a mid sniper, i'm buying 3 smokes and killing you over and over. I feel like deso doesn't really help cover his other weaknesses. And you don't mention BKB at all either, which I think is pretty core on him. I guess its fine in "bleh" pubs, but otherwise I don't agree with you much here. I agree Sniper is a terrible mid for the reasons you've mentioned, but becomes the perfect solomid farming carry IF you have friends playing on both side lanes and they aren't losing terribly. Sniper can come online as a damage dealer relatively soon if left undisturbed and he can very easily capitalise on mid farming vs any hero.

If you haven't watched in the last week, Slark was only re-added to captain's mode 8 days ago. He was removed when 6.79 hit and he was reworked somewhat. Since he's been re-added, a fair number of teams have been picking him up!

If you you have to play sniper Id say put him in the safest lane and protect him. Cm+sniper has deceptively large early game killing potential just try it with a buddy. Skill that spell sniper has. 1-1-1 -> 4-1-1-1. Yes I know they might get crushed by an aggressive trilane but the duo should be fine in either 2v1 or 2v2.

Don't play too late, but especially don't play too early, if that's a problem for you.

Haven't thoroughly tested what the DotA 2 behavior is.

What about instant cast items that generally wouldn't be interrupted by the act of attacking?

For mid you generatly want to go 1-3-1-0 by level 5 and then u can either max the first skill or the third one (try both ways they play a bit differently but are both viable) U keep ur pull at lv 3, because that is the magic lv were u can remnant + attack + pull + attack + remnant + attack and the pull duration is long enough to get everything unloaded on ennemy hero ( This is by far storm best combo and what separates good players from wannabe scrubs, practice it as it is your bread and butter combo) Other than that everything else comes from practice, u have to learn when is a good time to jump, how to effective juke and bait the ennemy team and general movement (U will eventually get good at calculating how big a mana pools allows u to do what) Last thing for storm mid is try to play passive from 1-4 and get your bottle up from lv 5 you can try and make openings. Also past lv 7-8 dont stick mid too much unless you can continuously kill the other mid as your job is to snowball and hamper the ennemy team You have way more possibilities than Bloodstone or Orchid. BKB, Hex or Linkens can all be decent first items in some games. I also disagree a lot with the idea that Storm needs to start ganking at level 7-8.

It's not quite that simple, because Beserker's Call/Duel actively cancel orders as you make them, so even "instant cast" orders will be overridden. The things you can cast are specifically items and spells that *do not interrupt your current order*. Specifically these are spells that do not cancel channels--Wind Walks, Shiva's Guard, Rot, etc. Again, I need to emphasize that this is the DotA 1 behavior. More extensive testing needs to be done with DotA 2, especially on this latter point because DotA 2 has many spells that no longer interrupt your current order to cast even though they did in DotA 1.

Obviously if there are easily ganked targets and your team has nice follow up stuns, go for it. If not, farm a bit more until your first item. Storm is pretty good at pushing and farming, just make sure you have a tp. Too many times I see storms trying to gank right after level 7 or 8 and they only have treads bottle wand, and they stay on those items for the next 6-8 minutes.

Aphotic doesn't seem to do anything to a duelled target. Passives like mana break remain disabled. Casting rot etc. give the "silenced" message.

![]() Edit : tried it. Making a socket does not seem to affect an item. Placing a gem does make it untradeable. U will get a pop up that warns u.
