A win at Summit might just be enough to scrape an invite for TI. If only EG get invited from NA I think the qualifiers are going to be super difficult so I think it's important NP manage it.

Didn't see the VP games live but from watching the highlights it seemed like the Naga was a rather useless pick. Somewhat understandable attempt looking at the lineups I guess but it was just way too slow to come online and be useful. And in 2nd game they got cliffed by Lil a bunch of times. Also their lanes weren't super strong in either game.

The NA quals are likely to be very competitive with NP, Planet Odd, DC, coL and Freedom battling for what is presumably 1 direct slot and 1 wildcard slot. Feels like NP had a better grasp on drafts compared to other teams at Manila and now they have to find their groove again a bit. Not sure if they've had a chance to practice much due to flying from lan to lan, and a bunch of stuff they used at Manila got nerfed a bit.

NP got no more events, right ?

It's kinda difficult to get an invite with Odd, TNC being the competition despite having 2nd,3rd,4th place finishes. I guess team's going qualifiers then

You people are actualy delusional if beating Empire and Na'Vi makes you invite worthy. I'm not even sure they're locked for qualifiers with both ODD and DC looking much better on their recents LANS. Like they got completely shit stomped by VP playing meme drafts, at least DC was able to take it to a 3rd game.

i see you conveniently don't count all the other events/tournaments and only count the summit LUL

also come on your bias against NP is way too obvious for your opinion to actually have a value (check your own post history)

I don't think any NA team (excluding EG) deserves a direct invite. Their results aren't impressive enough.

NA qualifier will be really stacked, it isn't the wonderland anymore.

Yep despite how well Odd and NP did since the major. It isn't good enough but due to how well NA teams are doing post-major might be the time to give NA more slots than EU considering VP,OG and TL are obviously getting an invite whoever remains doesn't have a better trackrecord than the rest of NA who isn't EG

HappyTuna seems to be imagining these "you people" who claim NP is invite worthy. They had a chance to get invited with a finals spot from the Summit because they already had 3rd place from Manila behind them (+2nd from Zotac) but now they aren't getting it, and noone is really claiming they should be invited. They are among the teams who are "closest" to an invite but I think they needed just a bit more to make a great case, whether it was a finals spot at Manila, winning Zotac over Newbee, or getting to the finals of Summit.

And as far as LAN performance goes, NP's performance at Manila was good. They were really close to a finals spot at an event that was very competitive. NP didn't look great at the Summit against the better teams though.

Aggreed. Excluding OG and TL, the only team in EU that is doing something is Secret. And the record of Secret isn't even that good.

Most of SEA teams are really bad atm. TNC is OK.

6 invites

8 qualified teams: 1 CIS, 1 EU, 2 China, 1 SEA, 2 NA, 1 SA

2 wild cards

I think only 1 SEA qual spot is unlikely if they get no invites. Seems to me that they'll have 2 spots. It might be possible that Valve gives NA 2 qual slots and just has 1 wildcard slot, but not sure how likely it is. Planet Odd had a decent showing at Galaxy Battles, DC didn't play all that bad at Summit despite their final placing not being super good, and NP had a good showing at Manila and didn't lose to bad teams at Zotac and Summit either. It's not completely impossible that Valve thinks the region is pretty good atm and deserves those slots.

The situation would be simpler if Secret won the Summit and got a TI invite, and Planet Odd played in the EU quals (not sure they even have a teamhouse in NA these days, afaik they just flew over to BTS house to play the last NA quals). Then you could have 7 invites, 1 EU qual and 1 NA direct slot and 1 wildcard slot for each, and the regions would be more balanced imo.

Wasnt there a recent Reso interview in which he said that they have a teamhouse in LA?

I would like to see more wild card teams. I get that it costs money, but I feel Valve can afford it. Would make it fairer when the regions' comparative strengths are debatable and also solve Visa issues with plenty teams to fill in.

Probably see one invite (EG), one qualifier and one wild card. NP could definitely lose out to Odd and DC for even getting a wild card slot, yet all three would be favourites for SA and CIS qualifiers and second favourites for EU and SEA.

Regarding Odd being in NA quals, doesn't that feel a bit odd to anyone else? I mean, they have 0 ties to NA anymore.

Edit: NVM should read all of the past posts... Anyway.

Yep same thoughts. Though we could be wrong about SEA getting less spots again again considering what happened last year TI6 where 3 of them ended up top 8 and destroying the best EU teams.

Oh well, I guess the format is clear now. NP should have no problem going through.

More SEA teams mean OG having more chance to be eliminated early, kappa.

I don't think NP's place is guaranteed by any means. Imo Odd, NP and DC are all teams that can take games from each other and it depends on the day what happens. You can easily lose one series even if you were otherwise better. For example the old NP went undefeated in Kiev quals groups and then lost to coL and DC in the playoffs despite not really ever losing to them before that. Also not sure exactly how strong coL is. They played all those quals with Feero playing on high ping and now he's in their teamhouse and they've had time to practice. coL also often has very push heavy drafts that may catch you by surprise.

I suppose if you intend to get a good TI placing then you should beat all of those teams. But I think DC, Odd and NP are all better than quite a few teams that will be at TI and one of them won't make it.

Usually, the qualifier is double-elimination bracket. So NP has 2 chances. Furthermore, they don't have to take first place.

If NP doesn't make it, then I guess they don't deserve to be at TI.
