[UPDATE]: Comment by ua Igor "caff" Sidorenko:

"I want to shed light on situation that Ivan "ArtStyle" Antonov couldn't make it to Shanghai in time. The closest schedule for our DotA2 squad was to attend MDL event in Shanghai and DreamLeague Season 3 in Jonkopping before TI5. For this we succesfully applied for Chinese visas, but since the time gap between the tournaments is a few days and two of our players didn't have Shengen visas we applied for them as well right after. Both of them had to be issued not later than May 29th. But for some reason the embassy didn't return ArtStyle's passport with visa in time. The possible time to get it is June 4th so Ivan would be able to join his teammates only on June 5th. This means that Ivan misses the group stage for sure and we had to use the stand-in player.

We told MarsTV about our issue and they contacted all the participating teams of MDL to know whether or not NaVi can use a standin and then possible use ArtStyle if he somehow makes it to the main event. All teams agreed. By the rules we can’t find anyone that is playing the main event or was involved in the Chinese league of our event. With the help of Association of Chinese eSports (ACE) MarsTV helped us with this issue. The sub for group stage was the player of Energy Pacemaker Gaming Luo Tao.
We want to thank MarsTV team, ACE and all the teams attending the event for understanding and help that they provided"

Thanks

It's fine. They get the sting of losing - which should motivate them to practice - without the demotivating experience of getting crushed, which they can't take seriously without their captain. Would have been good practice but overall I think it'll work out.

What a tourism trip to China. NaVi would have been better off just staying home and scrimming.

It's a waste of time to go without your captain even if you expect to lose.

I think while they already lost they can just scrim in china while they are at the lan event . The travel is not really a waste when you can practice with some of the chinese teams even if they are eliminated. And also the western ones like c9/secret/empire

Scrimming without a captain and igl seems pointless, they should rest as they have dream league then ti5 that's a lot of travel across different timezones. Rest up, relax, get ready for the next month.

I think artstyle will still arrive at china.

Idk scrimming purpose is to generally the give the feel of the other teams playstyle. Like even if it's just the 4 of them and you can even add the EP player . There are things scrim gives that just watching the replays and/or analyzing how the other teams draft doesn't. I think it's still worth it. That whatever feedback the other 4 has of the others will always help.

Also opportunities to scrim with the chinese is rare to come cause you know obvious reasons

Yeah, if you are there you might as well do it.

The biggest problem of the navi games is that there was come CLEARLY communications problems, EP.it played well but in some teamfights it felt that they didnt knew what to do or at least how to.

kinda obvious when you consider that 4 CIS + 1 CN and no Captain/IGL but it shows that Artstyle is indeed pretty important.

Plenty of teams there will be happy for the opportunity to scrim with a team of Na'Vi's playstyle. They should be able to get a workout.

It's still good publicity and so that they don't break their relationship with the Chinese organizations for future invites.

Just unfortunate, If they had Artstyle, I could see them beating Cdec and or IG and staying in the tournament. And getting more practice, just shitty luck.

Now they need to focus on Dreamleague, winning is definitely doable and should be the goal.

Na'vi related bits for those who didn't want to watch the full thing :

-Kky & ppy felt underappreciated in na'vi so they left
-Kky thinks FNG was a great addition to na'vi but was also underappreciated
-Kky doesn't like organisations currently because they their costs (tournament cuts) are higher than the benefits
-Kky still wishes na'vi to do well (wanted either them or BU to win qualifiers)

They really want to do well. It's nice to see them really wanting to show the world NaVi is still a force to be reckoned with.
