EDIT: there's rumours swirling about the disbanding of VGJ.T (idk if this is true), but if it is, then Optic (9th in the DPC Ranking) could've been invited instead. I'm not sure why VGJ.T would break up after locking down their TI invite, but weirder things have happened. VGJ.T will likely get rolled at TI, but maybe there was a huge break up among the team. Still, NA is going to be a nasty fight. EG has an uphill battle. The individual skill is still top tier, but they have to find team coordination to beat any of Complexity, Optic or VGJ.Storm.

So could meet good team in BO1. How many teams will make it through each region? If only 1 then 14 teams only at TI. Open Qualifiers have some seeding by the players that have done FaceIt stuff. So you'll normally get the "teams with a chance" not meeting for a long while. There's no real hard-cheese right now, so it's actually a good place for the Meta for a huge set of qualifiers.

I remember a PPD interview a few years ago saying he would like to scrim against weaker teams to get in the winning mindset. that is smart progressively wise while you work out the kinks in team chemistry and get a feel for it or get the momentum going but it sounds really cringy from a person with a previous history of winning TI. it sounds like a strong guy beating up weaker opponents to feel good about himself lmfao on an entirely different note Eg's recruiting strategy: More Farming or previous Carry/Mid Players needed. Even if they have to play support.

I doubt they actually are but rotk did say that he is disappointed with the team. They came close many times but always got smashed when it mattered

Yes 100 grand is a lot, but these players are competing for the championship more than the money (altho the prize pool do matter too).

The day i read news where the general public thinks Complexity is an uphill battle for a team like EG, i think i've seen it all. (I haven't kept up with dota but jeeze that's a low blow)

Just NA bias in qual so EG get almost free indirect invite There's normally 18 teams at TI, so that isn't too surprising. EG now has a lot of room for error but can still make it. However, it's not going to be some cake walk, and they really have to figure out a way to end games. They'll have trouble with T3 NA teams if they don't.

EG are worse then optic and vg.j right now, but who else could take that 3rd spot? Col and immortal are not good enough, lucky EG xD Why should a region having a team in top 8 matter at all? NA teams won minors btw. No CIS or Europe team except VP, Liquid, or Secret did.

For 3 Invites, we can probably expect Bo2 Round Robin, followed by a 2-loss Elimination bracket. Each region always ends up a little different, given number of Teams in the Regional and amount of slots. NA probably does Round Robin, with the top going through, then a 2-loss bracket for the last two slots. Given 8 teams in the Regional, that'll put Top 1 straight to TI8, bottom 3 eliminated, then a bracket of 4 for the last two spots. Which is exactly what happened last year for SEA Qualifiers.
