It will be a lie if xiao8 isn't influenced by both Banana and Hao.

Hopefully that news is just rumours

I am not sure about this. DK has a history of jumping to conclusion. Remember the incident that DK withdrew from a tournament that was said not paying its prizepool?

doesn't seem like a big deal to me?
No rules are being broken here since when do people have to scrim with someone they don't want to scrim with.
And to prove it's because of racism not better contacts/strategy is pretty much impossible

There have been a lot of replies on weibo, but I think the most interesting one is hao's which says "Big brothers don't blame your losses on us little brothers for not practicing with you guys"

Am I reading this wrong or did he basically just admit they didn't scrim together?

Pretty much. Captilast just tweeted this.

I had totally forgotten about that. But yeah if you remember the only teams Orange and Zenith scrimmed last year before ti were basically Orange and Zenith.

Wonder if Valve will do anything if xiao8 or Newbee confirmed boycotting DK for Mushi/ice3 reasons. Will wait for more evidence but my heart says xiao8 = scum. Hope I'm wrong.

It may be implausible to prove beyond doubt, but if it becomes obvious enough fans can and probably should not cheer for that team.

well to be fair china would rather play on their own servers and orange/zenith have pretty crappy pings to china, so yeah it's not like china was obliged to play with sea teams

No rules are broken but it's underhanded, scummy, and anti-competitive even if it's just "DK is better than us so we're going to attack them this way instead" and not racism. It damages the scene long term for a short term personal gain.

Your suggestion that it has to do with contacts makes no sense, the lineups of these teams has been more or less the same for months, yet the lack of scrims started post-SL9. How do Burning and MMY of all players have no contacts in the Chinese scene?

Lots of drama, lots of rumors....

Shortly after SL9, there was a chinese thread about how (I think it was faith) said on a broadcast that IG and LGD were no longer scriming with DK. Most thought it was because DK was too good, some thought it was because DK fell off. No one really thought much of it though.

Yesterday, there was a weibo post that was er..."retweeted"....by burning's gf, which claimed that only VG were scriming against DK, and everyone else wasn't because DK was winning everything. Later, the post was deleted~

After their match against Titan, mushi posted on weibo saying

Nice strategy by small eight ! You are the best e-sport player I ever seen
which was later "retweeted" by burning. Both are known to rarely post on weibo, so this brings up more drama.

Soon after, xiao8 posts on weibo saying that he recalls scriming with them a lot, less with lgd; Before MDL they (NB) only scrimmed twice; He never said or told any other teams to not practice with DK.

Immediately after, Yao and Hao all post in defense of xiao8.

xiao8 was also accused of doing the same to IG last year, but zhou posted that he doesn't remember such thing when he was on IG.

Then mushi's admin posts on facebook about how it's because he and iceiceice aren't from China.

TLDR: There's accusations of scrim boycotting against DK, xiao8 denies it, nothing is clear atm.

Thats a pretty smart strategy from xiao8 actually.... although its pretty evil.... lol

Ya I know that and Zenith was never exactly t1 but Orange was always competitive with t1 China teams.

I think the issue here is not newbee boycotting DK, but more like DID newbee ask other Chinese team to boycott DK?

If they did, that's poor poor sportsmanship. It's fine if u skip scrimming with DK but don't involve others for your personal issue.

If iG boycotts DK it will not only be because of the SEA issue. AFAIK there are internal problems between Mushi and Chuan.

Sorry for the off topic, but Zenith was most definitely a tier 1 team. TI2 was a disappointment despite a 5/6th spot. Zenith at TI3 was a weaker team than the two earlier years, but was still 9th-12th in the world. hyhy and icex3 fanboy speaking, but I think it's lack of respect for a team that good to claim they weren't tier 1.

Going back to the topic I've always respected xiao8 a lot, and I guess you could consider this yet another example of him doing anything for his team to become the best, but what I don't understand is how he's managed to convince other teams to agree to this. What does any other team have to benefit from a boycot? Practicing a lot against DK would surely improve them more than NOT doing it.
