Maybe too much pressure from fans/community? I didn't know a single person which expect less than a TI final from DK.

The late game team fights the only one with damage is TA and he gets focused down and Mushi cant right click down 3 tanky cores.

The squad has had highs and lows, and in a sense, greater and lesser extents to which it has overcome its problems, but the problems never completely go away. There are basically two problems. The one we're really talking about here, as I've mentioned, is DK's reluctance to press an advantage. The often seem aimless when they have leads, and this has sometimes resulted in the other team either catching up in farm or succeeding with some sort of pocket tactic. The other problem I think they've had that isn't so much in discussion right now is that they often have, in my opinion, rather disjointed team fights and sometimes player positioning that looks really out of sync. The future is not decided yet, of course. While I don't think it's probable, it's possible DK might even go on to be the champs. But if DK do fall well short of expectations, I think the main lesson will be that a team of great players is not necessarily a great team. Even if they fail to win another game, then disband, they'll still have been a great team. 3 premiere tournament wins, another 5 or so titles in smaller tournaments (against the top Chinese teams), MLG second, WPC 2014 second, the list goes on. They were the dominant force in China throughout most of the year, playing some of the best Dota we've seen. Failing to go far in this TI would rob them of proper glory, but there's no doubt that this team has already been successful.

I think the main lesson will be that a team of great players is not necessarily a great team. You probably meant the lesson would be that a great team of great players still can have it's downs and don't necessarily win every single tournament. It's hard to imagine the levels of stretching needed to call DK not a great team.

I still believe they can still be on. Come on DK, show me what you got left, remind us why we were rooting for you in the first place ![]() Don't think I can watch today. It's been a long day, also mainly because I'm so nervous to handle the match ;_;

Well, hopefully they can make comeback today, still believing that we will see them against Newbee!

I'm pretty sure their good day trump all other teams good day except maybe EG or iG. But they're not always on, which is a bad thing. Besides SL9 I don't think they have play their A game during a whole tournament once. But they always bounce back when it matters, that's why they dominate and always made the finals/won in the period b4 TI. I still believe they can still be on. It's been a long day, also mainly because I'm so nervous to handle the match ;_; In G-League they did I think, as well as the Chinese online tourney they won before SL9. I agree though, they have an insane peak level that they can't always reach. Please please let them reach it today. Last night was the most massive throw in history of dota. There's no single shotcaller on DK like there is on Navi/EG. edit: This lategame decision making weakness is also a new thing. They used to turn around loads of games in the lategame, especially against Chinese teams.

It's really weird because lategame used to be where DK showed that they were the superior team because they could keep a clear mind when one mistake can cost you everything. Then again, most of the time they weren't really fighting with an advantage. I really do think that it's the pressure that's leading them to drag out the games when doing so only helps the losing side. They need to channel their inner iceiceice yolo.

We could adjust the descriptor, maybe they're great, or really good, or awesome, or whatever term you want to give them, but I wouldn't put it the way you put it here. The reason being, your statement is true of every team, no matter how good, and is basically random chance, and as such, doesn't capture the important point. Let me put it this way; you can try to make a team out of what you perceive to be the 5 best players in the world, but the team would not necessarily even be equal to the sum of its parts. There, I think that phrasing still makes the important point without denying that DK are great.
