And since you cant farm cards so you need to buy packs which maybe is what people are complaining about.

The 20$ entry fee has 5 of these tickets. I think you also only win something if you win 3 games in a row? Not following it super closely. I'll probably try it out, but I prefer my card games in person, with a hint of violence in the air (or whatever it is when you play mtg with friends) So, the Browns, a hilariously bad american football team, are apparently trying to hire former secretary of state condoleeza rice as their new head coach, after firing their last one for going like, 2-32-1 over the last three seasons.

Are you sure that's not a joke. That really sounds like a joke

Will still try it out but still ![]()

no longer you can use the "but I can resell the cards I dont want to" arguments since you can even if it's digital so asking a $20 (which might be hefty considering most starter decks on TCG are cheaper but besides the point) doesn't seem so out of their mind, and asking for card packs is definitely in the realm of possibilities. So, for all intents and purposes, I dont find the $20 + $2 packs really weird, you can even trade and do all the stuff you can do on real life with your cards + having matchmaking and a much greater pool of players lol

Q. What is a Gauntlet? Gauntlets challenge players to win a number of online matches before being knocked out due to losses. For example: "Win 5 games before you lose 2." Some Gauntlets reward tickets and packs as prizes based on how many wins you achieve. At launch, all Gauntlets are win 5 before you lose 2 The prizes listed aren't cumulative. So, for example, if you have a complete run of 5 wins in Phantom Draft, you'll pick up 1 Event Ticket and 2 Packs. These structures aren't written in stone and might change in future Gauntlets. I bet they respond to the community on the two strike rule. Having to pay for tickets sucks. Maybe if the tickets were available on the market then they could be de-facto free if you win enough cards from draft to pay for them, but that seems unlikely. Hope they come up with a solution. I think needing to go 3-2 instead of 3-1 in your draft to earn your ticket back would help. Offering 2-3 tickets for a 5 win would also do a lot. Im wondering how they prevent an ever increasing supply of cards from driving down prices to nothing without a way to take cards out of the marketplace via dust or some other mechanic.

I'm not entirely sure who the monetization model is cutting out though. HS while technically free to play I am quite confident the vast majority of people who play ladder even remotely seriously have spent quite a lot. Which btw is the other thing. I heard it has no ladder at all? I can't see myself playing it tbh until it has some sort of ladder/ranking system/mmr. I am pretty sure that a lot of cards will be worth nothing, I am not 100% sure how that will all work out, because I never collected any other physically ccg (although I played a bit of pokemon in gradeschool with a friends cards). However I collected hockey cards pretty seriously as a kid, and trade/sold those at gatherings and shops and such. But it is a bit different...

What people don't understand is that the only way to generate cards is money. This may sound like it means the game is expensive but in practice it guarantees resale value. One issue with the d3 rmah was Botting. Botting is a battle valve won't need to fight in this model. Because things have value, valve can't pay you to play the way shitstone and MTG arena do. Those give you "value" that is actually just money that you don't have to spend to play. Valves model has now correctly enabled infinite free play (not a feature of hs or arena) but in order to get paid to win, you have to put some skin in the game
