I really like Merlini, but considering that he wasn’t even 7k+ in the old pre medal system I find it hard to claim he was ever a great player. Love him as a streamer and caster tho.

I cleared a gr100 with my hc ssf crusader ive been playing super casually at 868 paragon, but im not particularly motivated to actually grind out the augments and paragon for a 110.

Dude's insane and has been top of multiple fighting games at once. Also I'm always one to have great respect for someone who is publicly willing to be themselves when themselves isn't "the norm"

That said I've never looked into the dude's life at all, I just know him as the FGC dude that wears a blue hat.

I think there is a loud, but small subset of the FGC that gets mad about anything that doesn’t fit into their idea of what the FGC is. As someone put it:

that was the reason he is hated on, and the also was incredibly arrogant considering he played, again, fighters nobody cared about.

I like him, but there's a point to be made against if he is arrogant and plays MKX lol

Now he does play DBZ, so that's a plus.

thank god we watched sfv after dbz, man i hate those shitty unbreakable combos fighting games, they are so boring to watch, besides being flashy.

Combos in Arc system/anime fighter games are not unbreakable lol, there are resets and game mechanics for that come on...

It's easy to lose perspective. I don't think anybody who plays dota would say that they are great players (other than maybe demon) but if you take a step back, casually being in the top 1000 out of so many millions of people makes you pretty darn good.

I agree 100%. By "great player" I meant a top pubber and/or pro. As someone who's peak MMR wasn't much lower than Merlini's was I know exactly how far I was behind top players, so I probably would have never considered myself great.

TBH if we're talking generally I'd consider anyone over 4-4.5k to be decent/good.
