Maybe it depends on where you live as the game got popular at different times, my cousins who were 2-3 years younger all played Pokemon.I'm 34, I was 17ish when it first came out and deep into table top RPGs, like Gurps and World of Darkness. Pokemon just never clicked with me. Speaking of table-top I did play a lot of warhammer though. I guess that was in a way my first experience with competitive gaming, playing in tournaments at the local games workshop.

I'm 22, and Pokemon fever was in full swing in the UK when I was around 8.

I have played the game however and I found it to be painfully repetitive.

Im 24, and Pokemon is kind of over for me, used to be the reason i woke up when i was younger, but now all that is left are video games. The pokemon video games are still awesome, but as for the franchise i no longer care about it anymore :/

Except for the stint of monster hunter. I still love that game, I own every single game that came out for the PSP & completed nearly everything in all of them. MHP3rd I have basically every single weapon & armor for LS/GS/LBGs. Thats like over 600hrs. I also have a lot of the timed quests special weapons. How I wished there's a new monster hunter coming out for PC or PSP.

If youve ever played a turn based rpg before then pokemon will seem extremely simple and repetitive.

All the turn based japanese RPG's never captured me. It's the difference between being slow for the sake of strategy or just for being fucking slow. Pokemon was just fucking slow. And that's most of the jRPG's I've played. There might be a lot to some of them, they're still slow and repetitive.
