Hahah, being fat doesn't mean that he can take punches for 5 minutes and feel nothing, lol. Fly would probably knock incontroL down without even trying hard. Any guy that trains MMA/KravMaga/Kickboxing/Boxing or anything fighting related for a decent amount of time will rape anyone that is considered "big" but did not train anything before. Incontrol isn't fat?(fighting ability aside) He was a profession weight lifter and can bench like 400 pounds. I watch he arm wrestle 4 dudes at once at Pax east one year. It was pretty great.

wait im getting flashbacks, didnt we have a discussion like this couple hundred/thousand pages ago??
|
Is the discussion here being about a proper fight or just something like a street fight? Because in the latter if one is a lot bigger he can just ram the other guy into a wall or something, boxing won't help you at all then.

Pretty much what I was thinking.
The comment about taking punches was a joke, inspired by the Simpsons episode where Homer goes pro boxing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Homer_They_Fall)
I don't know shit about Krav Maga, how does it help you stop someone twice your size from charging you down with a rugby tackle?

The impulse needed to change direction fast when you are going fast and weight 100kg is not doable for anyone but professional sportsmen.

its so hard to get any hits off vs trained people, and when you get couple hits in they dont give a fuck lol

According to Wikipedia, it's a grapling fighting style developed in Israel. It looks really mean. However, I'm sure anyone who trains in it wouldn't be wild about the idea of fighting someone who can literally pick them up with one arm. I can't even fathom the idea of someone who can squat 800 pounds.

Muscles rarely matter in a fight. It's all about how you hit and where you hit, brute force doesn't take you anywhere. This discussion is quite retarded btw.

i mean in krav maga they always go for the balls how much meaner can it get
|
every combat sports go for the vitals tho
|
if krav maga is the same self defense stuff we were taught in army MP its just exploiting the weak parts like knees, jaw, nuts, etc, it doesnt really matter how big the other guy is if he cant defend those

Trust me, you don't want to fight anyone that is decent at Krav maga. I mean, how can a fighting discipline from Tel-Awiw that is being used in Special forces can be bad? You do really think that bag of muscles is any kind of threat ?
@up yeah it's the same, it's being practiced in the army. Anyway look at Bob Sapp or other big guys, they do perform really, really bad if it comes to 1v1 fights ^^

I fell this is one those Internet discussions where reality doesn't matter at all. Like discussions about Katanas, where the sword is elevated to a mythical level and gains the properties of a light saber. When, in reality it was just a really well made sword and there were lots of them.
The include discussions of theses types on the Internet that are even close to reality are ones about badgers. Because badgers are no joke.

Your strength doesn't matter, Mariusz Pudzianowski who was several times strongman world champion when moved to MMA couldn't do anything vs Tim Sylvia, who is mediocre at best.

Krav is just a ruthless down and dirty style for when your life is on the line. Nothing's out of bounds, eye gouges, strikes to the groin etc...

As far as I know, Krav Maga is one of the most "practical" martial arts, so I'm 100% on the Fly side against incontrol. Not even close.
Btw, Katanas were not even that well made (even compared to medieval swords in europe) and were on the most part used for ceremonial purposes and not real combat.

I mean, it won't really change anything, but... it also doesn't really change anything. I didn't have Valve pegged as a company that caved to the ragers on these kinds of things when there's no real benefit.
there is a rating, yes. but habw you ever thought about what this simple number, which is a comparison to all the other players, really means?
first of all, in dota are 107 heros and in every game there are 10 chosen, so there are 3585446225075 possible matchups in a public game. so theoretically you have to play 3585446225075 matches to see every combination that may occur, as any hero.
irregardless of the thousands of additional factors that every single game brings up, how do you realistically rate someones average knowledge of every hero, if that player played maybe 2000 matches? (which is a lot for sure)
thats what happens very often in MMR: someone plays a hero (maybe he has no choice because of CD/CM), that he is not as conftible in, as - lets say - the 60 heros he really knows very well. this guy will not play according to his MMR number, because he pushed his avarage witht the hero he knows very well, and as he gets something different, he isnt as good, as the MMR-system thinks he should be.
so HOW, do you really want to come up with a system that actually works, without people having to play at least 3585446225075 games? guess what: thats where your big variance comes from, because it is literally impossible to have a system that works in this regard.
witht hat being said: there are thousands of games played every day, where people that play their "perfect" game, still lose, because one the other teammembers makes a crutial mistake or sth.
so people who think the MMR dosent work are right. and people who want an MMR are just dumb, as they dont understand that it is impossible to view a players "skill" by a simple number, if the sheer numbers of variables the game is made of, are WAY TOO HIGH to get any aspect of the game into it.
