He was used SO often that a team named themselves No Tidehunter as a joke. The ult nerf had a minor effect, but changes to how people play the game made Tide less desirable. For example, Tide is pretty weak in trilane vs. trilane, and given how much more willing teams are to play aggressive trilanes, this is a big liability for the hero.

Well I agree with that, but this then leads to the question: What should tide actually do with the farm? Go semicarry and build him like magnus, i.e. blink dagger refresher; as I don't see why you would want him to build as a regular semicarry? Also he's lacking some of the core aspects most current mid-heroes have, namely mobility and an aoe-ability with range (anchor smash doesn't really count for this). As soon as you run into a "old" mid hero, such as qop, puck he should be in a worse position than dk, since he can't even lasthit and harass at same time, as he has no skill like breath fire or shockwave.

He'd work fine against stuff like Naga and DK, sure he's not a firstpick THIS IS OUR MID, thats not required for a hero to be good. A situational pick for a crazy strong initiator or counter initiator to get up arcane/blink dagger in decent timing is the whole reason why mag is good, it can work for other melee teamfight ult centric heros like SK and tide as well

Also he's lacking some of the core aspects most current mid-heroes have, namely mobility and an aoe-ability with range (anchor smash doesn't really count for this). ? the point of sending tide mid, like for instance brewmaster, mag,bm,etc. is to get a quick lvl 6 and a blink or mek or w/e mid hero does not equal huge amounts of farm for a lot of heros, not that tide can't do anything with the farm, the lane just serves as a catalyst and it will allow you to have a huge impact much sooner than a tide that needs to pull to get farm the question is if your lanes are in a good enough position to allow you to be useless to them until you get what you need from the lane it's also nice because usually the enemy team has much more breathing room to get bkbs up,with a tide getting mid farm however you could force the opposing carry into a much quicker bkb buy than they would like

Same to the other supports (that in my highest tier supports list) like SK and ES, as if people forgot about these sickening heroes already, they force the oppo carry to have a BKB timing. And then dagger on Tide/SK/ES can immediately change the game. Additionally, TC/Disruptor (and Jakiro to certain extend), are also all big headaches. The thing is that you really need some skilled players to run these heroes, especially on how to engaging in team fight and the player himself to be resilient enough to play with that depressing resources management especially in disadvantaged game.

Anyways, the pinging atm works everyway if you leave the "g" out of there, but only one way if you add the "g".
