I find it crazy that the 'big' dota streamers are getting more viewers than their sc2 counterparts. As of right now, Dendi (4100) SingSing (2100) are beating every starcraft stream except for Idra (9000, what a boss). They are beating, JYP, kas, catz, destiny, incontroL (crazy), machine and dragon. Good sign for dota 2? Of course dota 2 is even more sink or swim then SC2 is right now. Those are the only 2 dota 2 streams getting any real significant numbers. Taking an average or total viewership SC2 crushes it's face. However, it should. Sc2 has had 2 years as the premiere esport and dota 2 is in beta. Anyway, maybe this means nothing but I find it interesting nonetheless. I wouldn't expect dota 2 streamers to be beating big names in sc2 like the ones listed above, not yet anyway.

Last night if you check day9 daily, he barely get half(not even half smtime) of what he normally got last year. The design of the Bnet 2.0 system make socializing in sc2 become extremely hard which ultimately lead to it being just another console game where you play it once to get the taste and throw away. Same will soon be applied to D3 and so far i heard that they are not changing ANYTHING for HoTS. This means that if HoTS release date any close to dota2. Dota2 have a huge chance of crushing sc2 in term of viewer ship. The casters in dota2 are much better too, if you watch tobiwan cast without knowing anything about the game, you could still feel the excitement. Moba games in general are designed to be heavily action packed and much better to 'consume' compare to sc2 where you actually need to learn economic university level to actually fully understand whats going on. Lastly, the foreign fan base of dota2 is huge. Russian, chinese, SEA... those are all untouched and uncontested markets that dota2 own over sc2 simply bc of the game price. LAN support is HUGE. you see where im going with this :-/

LAN support is HUGE. you see where im going with this :-/ If Valve is successful in China it will make dota 2 instantly the 'largest' esport. LoL is technically the largest in the west right now in pure player numbers and stream views as their tournaments most always exceed 100,000. However, a dota 1 tournament in china two weeks ago, the name escapes me grr.. had 400,000. That's 400k in which 99.89% was likely chinese viewers alone. Valve knows this clearly as they already stated publically they must conquer china or dota 2 loses and the fact that Valve has promised LAN for full release. I'm not one to jump on the train that says sc2 is 'dying' yet, I just think it's stabalizing. I think the insane growth sc2 experienced in the first and second year was inflated and didn't accurately represent the diehard scene that ultimately will carry the game on it's back until it breaks through to mainstream (if it ever does). I think what we see now is Sc2 stabalizing. Perhaps it will continue to go down, but only time will tell. From my own personal experience, sc2 has died a ton. I used to play a lot in beta and after release, watched all the shows, the streams, the tournaments but I find myself not caring anymore the last 5 months or so. I mean MLG used to be an event for me, the whole weekend I was glued to the computer. This past MLG, I think I watched 3 or 4 games, and not even 1 entire set. I'm not 100% sure why, I think as you said bnet 2.0 sucks really bad and is a big contributor but it's also the gameplay of sc2. I don't like the playstyle or the forced counter units. I've said this a lot lately but I just think on the whole SC2 isn't very good and the units and playstyle aren't very interesting. SC2 owes most of it's success to being the spawn child of the greatest esports RTS of all time. If sc2 was 'insert random name' it would have failed long ago. We're forced to play it as a starcraft community, but it's not the great game the community deserves.

LAN support is HUGE. you see where im going with this :-/ I don't know about die out, the infrastructure is just too good for that imo. Also, seeing as how BW players will eventually make the switch (it's pretty much 100% confirmed at this point) perhaps even this year, there's gonna be big jumps for people to keep staying tuned. But you're right, the GAME itself is the problem. It can't attract players, and add in the fact that the expansion just hurts this by costing even more money while you can play fun, free games with your friends I don't see it growing too much outside Korea. And I definitely don't agree that the casters are better. Overall, SC2 casters are better, it's just that there's also many who aren't good at all.

In an interview with Dimitri 'Mali' Vallette from It's Gosu lately, Ivan 'Artstyle' Antonov stated this boycott will only lead to them multi-accounting. "We are going to participate there on fake names such as: Russia is everything, Orthodox, King, M5 champions and You don’t have to feed us", said Artstyle. SUP M5
