I know a lot of people think that every complaint about the matchmaking can be rebutted by referral to the Dunning–Kruger effect, but I want to focus on a specific phenomenon that I and a lot of other players have observed. I (>900 games, >50%wr) recently took a break from DotA and was welcomed back with some quite nice close games where nobody was muted or didn't speak any english at all. Then today I play with the exact same setup (same mate, same gamemode, same server) and get absolutely terrible games with mates who apparently don't even know all the skills, going 0-3 before three minutes and so on. How is this possible? When you go on a sick winning streak in Starcraft you will probably meet someone far beyond your own skill to get you back to the approximately 50% wr. But this can't be the case in DotA2, since when I speak of good games I don't mean wins, losses can obviously still be entertaining. | ||
