IRC chatter should remain in IRC - http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=tl.dota2

Posts that relate to topics with their own thread, such as in News, Tournaments or Strategy should go in those threads.

Yeah, I assumed so, just clarifying.

I've always considered Battlefury to be extremely superfluous on Alchemist but at the same time every week's 'top farmer' is an Alchemist with Battlefury, so I still sometimes go for it just for fun.

Its a nice alternative to radiance. I think I like it more than radiance.

I think.

That's the wrong way to go about it. That's obviously his response, you already knew that. It used to have a big manacost and very little impact, so it was common to skip it. If he still does that, he most likely still thinks it works like that. That wasn't a facepalm answer, it was expected. He just didn't know how much better the spell is now. It happens often, not everyone follows discussions or pro games and even if they should read the patch notes, missing something like how much this paticular buff means isn't THAT crazy.

Perhaps try saying it got buffed heavily in the last patch and it is worth the skill points now. You admit he is partially correct, since he is right by the old standards, so he is more likely to receive it well, and you achieve the same result.

Habit of old - it used to be really bad. Its a really solid early game spell atm. The best 5v5 level 1 spell in the game, imo.

Exactly. People really should read the patch notes, just to see if some spells are worse or better.

Cold Feet + Stats is a build for solo lanes, and is still probably better than taking Chilling Touch if you're mid. Chilling Touch is only really good if you have a lot of people getting the buff--1v1 it's actually quite underwhelming because the CD is so long, especially since in a solo lane, you have to be farming, and so the enemy laner can just back off and force you to either use the buff on creeps or miss lasthits.

Yeah, he drops in LR threads a bit and that stuff.

I guess Fluff does those hueg blog posts though, so that's pretty cool.

AND FIREBOLT COMES IN HERE TOO!

The manacost is also really quite brutal for someone solo laning, where the rest of his spells are pretty mana intensive.

Jugger Bfury is quite outdated unless you are playing the 4-1 with a Juggernaut(in which case you are doing it wrong). If you are the only well scaling hero on the team go for it . If there is a secondary carry(which you should have normally in any game but its a pub) then just go Drums Phase Manta Butter/Agha/Diffusal. Bfury is also reasonable against illusion heroes I suppose.

I wouldn't say it's outdated, just situational.

If's still an effective midgame transition if the game tempo gets rather farmy. YYF has done this even in scrims/pro games when he's not the main carry.

The thing is CK was kinda popularized by the chinese...

I don't remember many wisp+ck games from DotA1, but a TON of rubick/aa/ck from chinese teams.

It's not really the same. And it's hard to say CK was "popularized" by the Chinese, when it was just one of the mishmash of things that came out of SMM 2011 (where the Chinese just assimilated a lot of things from SEA DotA at the time like DK, Slardar, QoP, and bottle-crowing).

CK+Wisp is basically every Chinese pubstack team's favorite combo (as I said, it's the highest winrate combo on Chinese DotA 1 ladder). VG is still, more or less, a pubstack team. The fact that its worked against an off-form LGD is...not really definitive. I'm not going to say it won't work at this point, but really I'd wait to see it's effectiveness against iG or DK.

Doesn't leveling Chilling Touch at lvl 1 ensure you'll get at least 3 lasthits in the first wave which means you get that bottle up guaranteed?

Or level cold feet and cast it on your opponent, forcing them to run to break distance and giving you time to get those lasthits with your solid animation and excellent projectile. And doing harass. And having a useful skill.

PS: AA isn't much of a bottle rush hero IMO since he isn't spamming waves etc. All his lasthits come from right clicks so might as well get as many stats as you can at the start.

In my opinion, it seems like a solid pocketstrat in Chinese dota (an opportunistic lastpick against some sort of split push, vulnerable laning dota).

To me, it resembles sort of SCBW strategies that faded out of old (perhaps Mech when it got popular) - an old strategy that demands a really particular kind of playstyle to deal with it, and if executed properly will lose most of the time. However, once players familiarize themselves with playing the correct counters, the strategy becomes particularly weaker.

We'll see - after all, TI3 West vs East will have this hero playing a lot.
