Idk about this whole Na'Vi china/no china crap. They just need to get their shit together and train hard, wherever they are at. They have so much natural talent and they already work so well together. 5 months doing dota full-time and full-intensity? That would put them on iG's level no matter how hard iG prepares.

Does anyone know when Valve will announce the dates of TI3? Planning a trip to the US and would be good to know very soon.

To be honest I don't remember when they announced their schedule last year, but both TI1 and TI2 have taken place during the end of August, if that helps at all. This year it'll most likely be the same thing, either the weekend starting August 24, or the weekend starting August 31. Can't say for sure though, but it seems likely.

TI1 and TI2 happened late august, but there has been rumors going around that it's going to be earlier this year. Quite frankly there's no way to tell, nobody except Valve really knows I guess, not even casters/players/cyborgmatt etc. I understand if it's annoying if you need to plan your trip, but I think you'll just have to wait and see.

Because valve said they really enjoyed having everything near themselves because it gave them so much more control over the whole thing.
It has just been hinted very heavily at, never stated outright. But the odds of it being anywhere else than the US are slim.

Also i just saw what tobi wrote regarding Na'vi and China. Apparently he doesn't think Na'vi will gain anything special from training in China and that it'll only hurt them. Lol wat.

Success! My post contributed banter that lasted a page.

Seriously though this thread is awesome. Right amount of idle talk and srs discussion. Basicly I can come here and catch up on the DotA 2 scene easily without having to read large amounts of text. Also, lots of personality

I also don't see a need for them to go, it would improve china more than it would improve Na'Vi.

As in, Na'vi would lower their chances at doing well at TI3 by going to China.

Edit: Herp wrote TI3 instead of china.

edit: What Tobi probably meant (at least I hope so) is that Na'Vi is the strongest western team and the only real threat to the Chinese, and if they go to train there the Chinese will have an easy time figuring them out and preparing to face them in TI2. Which is still stupid because if they don't go they are fucked anyway due to lack of strong scrim partners.

which is why puppey runs into the jungle most of his games, to deny tobi that opportunity

If this is his line of thinking, then I think he's too worried about Na'Vi getting "figured out".

A team that has strong enough fundamentals and preparation will beat weaker teams on the basis of their superior fundamentals and execution. The issue of being "figured out" won't even come into play until you're at the absolute limit with the very best teams. Look at LGD at TI2 or LGD.Int at G-League up to the finals. Everyone knew what they were going to do, but they still more or less steamrolled all their opposition up until the very end (until facing Na'Vi/iG). And even then, you could argue that their execution/fundamentals would still have been enough if they executed just that little bit better (for example LGD.Int's form not being up to par the first 2 games compared to the last 2).

I guess that you could argue that Na'Vi should only focus on that final step, and expect them to coast through everything before that anyway, but I think that's an extremely dubious attitude to have.

I think Na'Vi has a roster of players that, if they really train against the top Chinese teams, can get their execution to that top level. I don't think they need to worry about getting "figured out". To me that feels gimmicky when they don't have to be that way.

Considering the meta will probably change again by the time TI2 comes, there's no risk of getting figured out for TI2, and if you're worried about "getting figured out" because you're a gimmick team, you're not going to win. Any western team that goes to China will benefit from the experience and help prepare them against Chinese teams. You need to see if how you play will work against the ridiculous levels of execution, and if not, adjust to it.

I agree, the difference between top teams and run-of-the-mill teams is their execution. The execution is all practice with a touch of talent....if your afraid a team will lose due to being figured out, that only shows that team is "gimmicky". True top teams are strong in execution(see iG)
