they are both at ~50k now neither streams showing games now. I'm including all bigpoint streams, no reason to only include tobi..
and even if MLG passes (which it should) we're comparing a small $1500 online cup to a major north american lan event right after the expansion release. They aren't even comparable at all. I haven't been following SC2 for awhile, I'm just curious what happened. Did SC2 drop off or is Dota 2 growing insanely fast? Or, both?

DotA2 has consistently outstripped SC2.

Except Bigpoint has been streaming for a lot longer than MLG, who literally just started. Please stop heralding the end, because I know exactly how much Starcraft 2 viewership (through teamliquid) has decreased last year, and it's nothing to worry about.

53k for both MLG streams on TL, 44k on both bigpoint streams on TL
chill out

In that time, Starcraft 2 and Dota 2 have stayed pretty even in overall viewership.

That was directed at crms, and people who are being ridiculously pessimistic in general.

I'd be pretty surprised if HotS was able to beat DotA2 in march

No need to compete (have a pissing contest) over viewership.
I don't know why some Dota players care so much about attracting a wider playerbase. Dota has been played competitively (granted not on a large scale) for 10 years now, and is played globally by millions. I don't think there's a worry of the scene dissolving anytime soon.

because the events are total comparable, right? The fact that they are so close is telling. I'm not even sure what you're trying to prove. I'm asking about current SC2 community growth/decline. MLG *should* crush big points online cup for $1500 unless SC2 has had significant decline or dota 2 has had exponential growth. Perhaps both has occurred. I haven't followed SC2 for some time but I did buy HOTS for the campaign. I am in no way saying SC2 is dead or the end is nigh. You can't compare viewership cross game to prove sustainability. If 60k is more than enough for SC2 to continue and grow then it's perfectly fine for them. I personally found the viewership shocking as someone who hasn't watched SC2 in some time.

But...the tournament hasn't even started yet in terms of games...

While we are talking about SC2 a little, holy shit i miss Dota LR threads already.. This is the first time i'm reading SC2 one for a long time and oh boy..

But using the power of observation we can see that in the last week, despite no significant tournaments at all being on, Starcraft 2 was even or ahead of Dota 2 most of the time. Also, the march stats would probably be skewed anyway due to the HotS launch party, unless Dota 2 has an event that keeps the viewership between 60 and 100k for 24 hours.

Honestly...who cares? I mean, if we're gonna argue useless statistics, let's at least argue on Dota 2 vs LoL, the superior MOBA ~

the defensiveness and lack of reasonable discussion (or arguments) shows me more than any answer to my inquiries could have told me.
moving on.
