Pennants are equippable items that allow users to show support for a team during tournaments, by increasing a team's Fan Level - visible in-game to other DotaTV users. Designated tournaments, such as The International 2, additionally allow for pennant holders to receive item drops. Anybody wearing a pennant representing any of the two teams involved in matches are eligible to receive tournament items from events such as first blood and multikills during that match - events are team-independant, e.g. a player wearing a Na`Vi pennant can receive drops from events triggered by iG.

Not that I know of. Pennants are just for international items i think. I got an item without a pennant but it was from a team without a pennant.

Ok, than I'm happy that I bought the DH Invitational ticket.
And IIRC, there was some tournament that joinDota hosted/casted, and one of the casters/admin (don't remember who or when) decided to spam out items to the viewers

I remember there was one tournament where Tobi told an admin to give an item away every time he missed a kill.

Yeah. But I'm not sure the ones Ham gave out like that were tournament drops. I think he just used the item you can buy in the shop that gives a random person in the game an item. Or am I wrong? does anybody know?
