Isn't there a dota 2 world map somewhere with all the heroes origins and stuff? It was pretty neat. I don't know if it was official or not, though (it was well-done and had a similar style to that).
The tutorial is a pretty big deal for new players, I agree. Describing it as "mechanics 1" in the patch notes made it sound like a last-hitting tutorial which is a little... strange.
I would rather have a new hero or fixes on rounding/truncation, etc., but getting and keeping new players is more important in the long-run. I just think the timing is weird, if they had released it earlier some players might have been retained who grew too confused and left after 5 minutes of trying the game out (ie pcgamer).

Best idea about dota that i've heard this year.

God that PC Gamer article is bad. It reminds me of the Cyanide and Happiness 'I Love Noodles' bit.

I'd be very surprised if they don't add a lot of features to make it much easier to create maps than Hammer.
It is afterall Icefrog, if there is anyone that knows how powerful an easy to use map editor can be, and someone who has a lot of ideas for what a map editor 'should' be.

I remember reading people on reddit saying it wasn't very good or something similar.

God damn it, valve never stop to impress me with the job they are putting into dota2, the tutorial map looks amazing.

A campaign for each of the "factions"(I imagine naga, medusa, slark and slardar being together, Kunkka + Tide, etc.) where you learn the mechanics and the lore of the game would be absolutely amazing! I think making it in small groups would be ideal, I don't think they will make over 100 levels one for each hero, that seems insane.

It's pretty good, it can just be a bit difficult to work with at times.

Well they could make single player DLC fo money after they're done with the actual learning tutorial stuff.

PC Gamer's article gives me a bit of rage. The guy "defending" dota barely knows anything about the game. They do not discuss the elements thoroughly enough.
For someone trying to make a pick it might be useful though, but the discussion is still way too basic.

Don't give PC Gamer your traffic. In fact, don't give any general gaming sites your traffic. Just filled with link bating, bought reviews, and 'journalists' with no more writing talent than I.

this single player tutorial mode could turn dota 2 upside down. Casuals and new players could be sucked in through this if it's done well and make dota explode. Valve.. so good.
