http://www.cyborgmatt.com/2012/12/dota-2-the-polycount-contest/ Some of those sets are fantastic. I will definitely buy the disruptor tech mage storm harness set if it gets released. meepos first set looks really cool as well; but I don't play him enough to consider buying it.

He graduated got a real job and was focused on his career. Now he's focused on streaming and maintaining stability through his stream. I don't think pro dota is stable enough for him to jump into. He has casually mentioned he might be up for the idea if something was presented but I don't think he wants to just jerk around in a team. I think he'd only join a real established team that could compete at a very high level. For now I imagine his main goal is to build his stream and his individual brand. Anyone with more knowledge, please chime in!

A few years later, he is playing Dota 2 but is still "new" to the scene and hasn't found a team. He made the decision to really play dota full-time AFTER the big post-TI2 team switchups so now all the NA teams are trying to stick with their rosters for a while and build chemistry even if the results aren't the best. However, I could see something like a Paint/Universe/Merlini/HannahMontana +1 team sometime reasonably soon if a sponsor can be found. That is another issue, Dota 2 teams can have a hard time competing with league teams for sponsorships.

Merlini is very much approaching it from a business perspective, not from a player perspective. He knows he will play dota no matter what, but if he is gonna do it full time then he wants to make sure to maximize his viability as a professional dota player. Even if he doesn't have a team, it is still his job so he wants to maximize his pay XD. That is another funny thing about the scene though. Players only want to join "extremely dedicated teams that can compete at the very top level of dota" but those teams already have nice stable 5 man rosters. Teams without said 5 man rosters are never going to get to top tier without settling on a full lineup, and teams that come together with the intention of developing into an allstar 5-man lineup won't necessarily put up good results, even with serious dedication and sticking together (see: Pulse).
