SingSing @BlackDotA2 stop shitty slendershittyman and go scrim, we played like 6 already
@TypicalGatsby @BlackDotA2 kiev in less than 3 days
@Matsuyi we've been playing since like 7 PM CET till now So I guess he wasn't scrimming with them but doing private stuff instead, which is kinda weird right before a big tournament. Well I'm not suprised.

Surely you get negative marginal utility after the first 8 girls?

Hey guys
I am new to Dota2 and a big MOBA noob. So would like to ask a question somewhere "noob friendly", not sure if this is the place so let me know if it isn't.
So yea, big moba noob. I am just going to come out and say it, I have always hated "moba's". I have always felt like unless you are playing with a team, that it simply comes down to what hero you pick vs what hero they pick. But obviously with me being a big noobie this opinion is probably completely wrong. And seeing as I recently got into the dota2 beta, and I really don't like the look of HotS right now, I figure I should give Dota2 a proper and unbiased try.
I figure they best thing for me to do would be to learn and master one hero first, and then maybe I would enjoy and understand the game better. So I am here to ask you, what hero should I pick?
I am looking for something that is similar to Draven from LoL. Not very complicated, but with good micro and smart play it can be very effective.
Sorry to "noob up the place", but wasn't sure where to ask!
Thanks

Hi and welcome!
The "Welcome to DotA 2" sticky thread has probably lots of useful information for you, including links to some posts discussing that very matter.
Enjoy your stay.

Thanks 1) Dota is NOT a moba. Moba is a riot term. Valve calls it a ARTS.
2) Beginner friendly heroes:
Skeleton King, Venomancer, Chaos Knight, Lion, Sven, Sand King

Thanks Draven from LoL... I think that he's pretty complicated to be honest ... Constant pressing of skills and precise movement, I don't even think any ranged carry like that exists in DotA2 and if one does it definitely wouldn't be a beginner hero. You don't really have many skillspam heroes in DotA like you have in LoL, Invoker being an obvious exception of course.
However you might want to try an orb walker like Clinkz, Drow, or Viper, if you want to go the agi carry route. It might be interesting. Nerubian Weaver might also be fun but he can get a bit complicated.
And yeah read many general guides and also preferably learn to lasthit properly with the hero of your choice(This of course will be obvious to you if you played Draven )

Well I'm not suprised. SingSing said right after TI2 on stream, this was when Black had 'left', that Black and CWM were always the ones who didn't show up to practice or didn't want to practice. CWM I'm not too surprised about, but before he said that I figured Black was the kind of person who would want to scrim the most.

People are defensive against its use for a reason.. it's a shitty term coined by a shitty person. There's no reason to call any game a moba, ever.

Discussing what moba means should be offtopic in this thread. its the same awful discussion over and over.

One of the hardest parts of Dota is last hitting since every hero has a unique attack feel and projectile speed. Westy just pick a simple hero like Lich and have fun.

Yeah, trying to last hit (for the first time) with heroes like Sniper (stop doesnt work), Razor (delayed damage), and like Clinkz (lobbing arrow of doooom). It gets to be interesting how they all play so differently.

I was just in a pub where a shadow fiend got 3 rapiers. He was killing heroes in almost 1 hit without and crits. I haven't seen anything like that in DOTA 2 before.
