You really should try to break the habit of calling spells QWER. It just sounds stupid and dumb.

Unless you use legacy hotkeys, I got rid of those as soon as I figured out how to change them but even so I'd imagine you know the slots, especially if you click to level up... If you use legacy keys to level up as well it might be tougher

correct! Funny part for me is I don't know which of skewer and shock wave are q and e, but I believe shockwave is q. Only reason i know empower is cause my friend DC'd and I had to use him lol.

No, because there are people who use custom keys and there are people who use legacy. They are not QWER unless you are invoker. And even then you can't just say QWER for invoker, what if i wanted to talk about coldsnap for invoker? Should i say D, F or Y? Let me take an example, how would people enjoy it if casters started saying "WOW LOOK AT THAT ENIGMA GETTING HIS R OFF ON 4 PEOPLE" It's fucking retarded to listen to. Same for reading. You don't even need the name, you can instead of saying sandstorm for sandking just say SKs invis. People will know what you mean. Even the people who use legacy should still know what I mean, though. That's the beauty of it... I can say "Magnus's W" and you know it's the skill in the second slot, no need to even know the skill's name. I don't even try to remember any skill names, just Q W E R. For Invoker you kind of have to say cold snap, however QQQ works if you want to go that route. He's kind of a unique hero. It's not really for commentating, more for being a "scientific" shorthand. For instance, a skillbuild QEQEQRQEESRSSSSRWWWW -> S is much easier to type completely like that than "Spirit Lance, Juxtapose, Spirit Lance, Juxtapose, Spirit Lance, Phantom Edge", etc. However apart from leveling order I guess it's a bit awkward because DotA has too many secondary spells. Still it's good for talking about leveling skills. Maybe you'd know the names of skills better if you actually played the game instead of giving misinformed advice in this thread.

From my extensive testing of magnus + Show Spoiler +, I think there is something wrong with the unit collision size or something, i fail to shove people out everytime T_T and somehow dota1's wave animation is more accurate. In short, dota2 magnus is not that awesome as i expected, hoping the wave animation to get better.

I use legacy and reading Q W E R is very annoying because I have to read further to realise what's the context, and only then realise what which skill is being talked about. And before Dota 2 was released I've never ever seen a discussion where "I level my Q" or "I think his W and E" and the likes were present. It's probably simpler but it's too new and not universal.

Going QWER is okay if everybody knows every single skill order for every hero, but that's not the case. Do you know what is meepo's W? Warlock's E? Dazzle's E?
I already explained the reason why it's been Shikyo vs the world in the last 10 pages. Except now it's about hotkeys instead of strategies:

Active skills are a bit easier, but passives as QWER can be really hard to remember. "Lifesteal", "Aura", "Spellshield", etc. is just so much easier, no risk on confusion and it isn't exactly hard, it's not like you need the correct name of everything.

Here's another, when i say W in regards to shadow fiend. Am i talking about necromastery or raze? Yea good luck figuring that out. Let me even give some context "My W totally helped me kill the crystal maiden way faster" Both can apply, necromastery could easily be the reason since it ups his auto attacks by a lot. It could also be raze since bursting down a CM isn't hard with razes.
As already mentioned, you don't even have to use the full name of an ability.

Hey almost on-topic. Do people generally use their pinky finger for the A-key to amove and such? Because I hear many people say that it's awkward to use the A-key whereas it's incredibly comfortable for me, seeing as I rest my fingers on ASDF and it's really easy to just press A and use S for lasthitting with my ringfinger. So completely natural as well.

on the other hand, 14-16 games a day is quite a lot.... each game is like 40 mins which could result 10-12 hours of gaming @_@..... I am doing it myself but i have experience in grinding games, definitely not recommend to any sort of newcomer @_@

Speaking of, anyone else find that there is no need to hover over your ability hotkeys since the game command buttons are far more commonly used? items/shift/attack command/stop/hold.
