If you want to try one of the uber hard carries and still have fun I'd honestly recommend Spectre. Prioritize Dagger and Desolate, mostly skipping Dispersion until later. Go phase > drums > yasha> diffu > manta/radi. Obviously the build isn't set in stone but the gist of it is get phase drums and become a speed machine that hits pretty hard early mid game with global gank and teamfight presence. With dagger phase and drums you have insane chasing power and desolate can really hurt early on. Great way to up your map awareness and co-ordination skills. Bonus points if you queue with 2 or more friends with whom you can talk to. You can transition back into more traditional hard carry later on picking up Radiance or Heart etc. Won three games in a row last night with my friends doing variations of this build, its fantastic even if you have difficulty getting off the ground early with regards to farm (no more despairing at your 25 minute Radiance/brown boots :D). | ||

Its really good for a number of reasons and gets better later on after its been maxed. Anyways, the PL in that game being streamed right now had his radiance sub 20, plus tranq, ring and drums. He went Tranq/Ring then Drums by 10 minutes, with 1.5-2k gold to spare by 13, and 68 cs by 10m. | ||

Suddenly, Pudge comes up to lane with Axe, we realize they had the classic mid pub stand off with pudge and invoker, pudge leaving. I feed two kills to Axe and my naked Radiance gets finished at 24 minutes. Anyway I get space to farm, late-game you have stuff to do, with using illusions to bait initiates, push and farm jungle. I can say "Magnus's W" and you know it's the skill in the second slot, no need to even know the skill's name. I don't even try to remember any skill names, just Q W E R. For Invoker you kind of have to say cold snap, however QQQ works if you want to go that route. He's kind of a unique hero. It's not really for commentating, more for being a "scientific" shorthand. For instance, a skillbuild QEQEQRQEESRSSSSRWWWW -> S is much easier to type completely like that than "Spirit Lance, Juxtapose, Spirit Lance, Juxtapose, Spirit Lance, Phantom Edge", etc. However apart from leveling order I guess it's a bit awkward because DotA has too many secondary spells. Still it's good for talking about leveling skills. | ||
