Maybe. There was like 50 concurrent games at the peak of the BA servers. The biggest problem is that half of all Australian can't play on our nearest server SEA because they use OPTUS which does some weird routing stuff through the west coast of the US (I'm not sure about the details) and so everyone is pretty much forced to play on USW. Australian community is huge, We are just split across BA/HON mainly because that is where the servers are. Also garena usually has a lot of games going.
Honestly we need servers, i can't play USW from perth without extreme lag. I can only play SEA which is fine, except the fact that nearly noone else can due to routing issues.
Thus i have to choose to scrim on USW with 350-400 ping. Or not scrim

FUUUUUCCKKK Looking fresh sweet cheeks. I'm building a new one right now and I can't wait to see how this baby runs, what are your specs if you don't mind my asking? But what really gets me is the ridiculously low ping. You Americans are so lucky that you can play online games for granted and not have to worry or even notice any lag. Back in China dota 2 was only playable on SEA servers and I had to use a ping reducing tool which was a bitch to configure with steam. It always makes me laugh when an American player with a ping of ~50ms pauses the game and blames 'lagggg' for some screw up. Edit: you can check other players lag by typing ping in the console. As long as the ping is steady it's not THAT much worse to play with 300 ping than 50, in my personal opinion. What makes playing a bitch is when you're spiking like fuck so you're at 50 one second and 600 the next, then back to 100, then 450, etc.
IMO 200-300 is playable, over 300 is a huge pain, but as long as it is consistent its not that bad. Living in Australia is awesome in almost every respect, the exception being online gaming.

I get that Australia is a large country with a small population so Aussie servers are unlikely, but you would think the SEA servers would give you a better ping than they do.
Oh well. Blame Telstra I guess

I think you're being unfair to yourselves, 200-300 may be playable but when the rest of the world gets below 100, something should be done. It's unfortunate Valve doesn't pay attention to Australia :/

I'd imagine if the game is popular enough there they'll expand though.

Everything that is over 200ms is unplayable for me. Don't know how you guys manage to play with pings higher than 200 ms...

Then add Mantas and an Illusion rune on top of that. Now thats what I call split-pushing. Brewmaster seems so out of place there.
Rather pick Tinker with 5 Mantas or something.

I'm from SEA tried playing on Europe server with 400+ ping. It was playable.

Not at all, last hitting is something I'd like to consider myself pretty decent at. But if I'm playing with high ping, I just don't play heroes that require a low ping to play, ie pudge or puck or something likethat. Fortunately, highest ping I ever really have to put up with is like 120ish to USE whenever I'm playing tlih, which is still more than fine to play on.

Well, europe/russia have maybe like 10 times the player than australia, only makes sense to stock up on servers in busy regions

I doubt it, if you look at the active player numbers they are huge during European peak times.
And getting servers in Sweden is a lot higher quality and cheaper than in Australia, where you have to build your infrastructure yourself or deal with a shitty one.
But as I said, I'm sure if the audience is big enough they'll focus on it there as well.

On September 22 2012 00:57 Dattish wrote: Didn't Europe already have enough servers already back when those servers were added?
I'd rather prioritize giving sub 150 ping to a region than adding another server cluster for a playerbase that already have servers to play with minimal lag on. Its more about trying to help with all the whining about russians. Plus it's more complicated to set servers in a new region, there's a reason the russian servers are not in Russia.

When tinker refreshes all the mantas, all he has to do is use a different manta from the one he used last and it will create new illusions that wont remove the old. It was like this in DotA1 and worked in DotA2 when i tested it some months ago.
