I can understand not like the old farm to Radiance + 1-2 more items Spectre, but realistically, if Spectre gets buffed to the point of viability, it will be through improved midgame presence. As it stands, carries that take longer than Anti-Mage to get rolling are hard to support in this environment that favors early pushing/teamfighting. And it's likely to stay this way, as Icefrog's changes in the last few patches are pretty geared toward making games shorter and faster.

He's been patching to make games shorter and faster for at least 5 years now lol. edit: Or at least, that has been his intention all this time. I still remember reading years ago how he considered one of the bigger problems of Dota to be its game length. Games used to be 50-70 minutes on average and even longer games were common back then.

Well yes, but it feels like his more recent efforts have been much more successful and noticeable than past changes lol.

Why would you take an urn on spectre btw? Seems fairly pointless because you won't be contributing untill mid game, whereas a support hero/solo mid would be able to gather more charges? Also what about going for a faster skadi over something like Jango/manta? Would lead to extreme teamfight control with pretty good Hp.

But i would rather have other carries like say spectre be buffed to also have the same mid-game presence and strength. Thus in the end shortening the game length but making carries like her, void, weaver, PL and medusa viable for todays 'meta'. I'd also like it if carries like baller king, alchemist, drow ranger and sniper were fixed to be able to be viable picks as well.

Doesn't change the fact that she's a boring hero that leads to a boring playstyle. The other team is pressured to push while spectre can split push and ult in so the team will play ultra defensive because of it. It's the ultimate 4 protect 1. But spectre's abilities just simply aren't exciting even with a mid game presence and it's just annoying to watch. Point is, why buff boring heroes over others?

Also Skadi is more for the teamfight control, I might test it later but usually spec will build orb of venom anyway, and stats are perfect for illusion heroes.

the stats are good for her illusions anyway i've never seen a spec build an orb of venom, usually instead of a skadi specs build heart because it adds so much more hp and regen i don't like the midgame spec thing, i imagine it's okay but radi spec is so strong you pretty much win the instant you get radi

Janggo just provides insanely good stats for cost. Even if you get zero benefit from the MS/AS, its still far ahead if the cost-effectiveness curve, and the aura/active contribute considerably to your team's mobility and teamfight strength. Realistically the only two items that can match the immediate effectiveness per cost of Janggo are Mek or a longer duration BKB, which is why Chinese teams typically end games with multiples of the item. Also, who the hell buys OoV on Spec? I have never seen anyone noteworthy buy OoV on her.

Also Skadi is more for the teamfight control, I might test it later but usually spec will build orb of venom anyway, and stats are perfect for illusion heroes. I have never ever seen a spec build orb of venom, Now look at this You want your basic items first, boots(be it treads/tranq/phase), wand or stick, maybe a PMS. Do you rush an ulti orb for Skadi?Thats 2100 gold for 10 stats You can get full drums for even less then that (1750), providing you with 9 damage, 9 stats to all(which gives good mana),5% ms, 5% AS (aura) and the ability of 4 charges to make you and your team even faster and potent. Not to mention that it has a good buildup in lane because you can get the bracer first(and the magi, if you want to count that) You seem to underestimate the power of movement speed on heroes(or Spectre in this case), A spectre with drums, phase and Dagger will outrun almost anyone, even when slowed, not to mention the drums are excellent for your teammates for pushing, chasing or getting away. Skadi in its total cost is 5850, you can get a Radiance for 5150 and 3/4th of a vit booster from that which is where Spectre shines with. We are trying to look for a Spectre who can fight without going for the Radiance(which has a really hard buildup). So we look at Drums(1750) and after that maybe a Diffusal(3300), Yasha(2150).
