Hello there,

With more and more people playing hardcore, I thought it would be nice to share a bit of my experience. The whole HC experience changes a lot when you know you can get a character back up to 60 reallllllly fast.I have a lot of experience in power leveling. I mean, A LOT and this solution is for me the best way to get your friends safely to 60.

1) Lvl's 1-7

This is easy. Invite your pals and do the following:
- A2 zolten kulle quest. Go get the books that are in the tavern (the stack of 4 or 5 books). The go kill ZK (your friends should not come in, they just need quest xp)
- A2 last quest: kill belial for them (again only quest xp, dont let them come in the boss fight)
- A3 ghom quest: book next to lea in armory, then go kill GHOM
- a3 asmo: kill asmo
- a4 diablo: kill diablo
---> This will get them straight to lvl 7
There are other books and quests that can be done, but this is 10 minutes and I find the rest isnt even that exciting

2) 7-15

This is the boring part. Open a game for them after leoric and then,to be honest, power leveling before lvll 15 is useless. Your friends should be play solo. The best way IF you have money, is to play in mp 6-8 and buy a high dps weapon every 2 lvls. Count approx 1 hour. If you dont have money, well just play normally to lvl 15. Btw, xp on kill items help as well !
**** Monks can get a ruby from lvl 10 onwards (or is 11?)

******* From here on its mp 10 until hell ********

3) 15-20

act 2: Start a game at ZK quest and do the 2 zones in the archives of ZK (not the last one). Dont forget to get a helm with a ruby, this is how you get shit going fast.

4) 20-25

act 3: keeps lvl 2. This is the best zone, its n°3 xp per hour and its easy to always stay safe. Your mates must never come in a room where you are fighting. always one room behind.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @ Lvl 23 equip the set of Cain + ruby !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5) 25 - 50:

@lvl 25 go to nightmare difficulty (diablo kill has already been done) and start doing a3 keeps 2 until lvl 50. This is crazy fast if you have the cain set and a good ruby.

6) 50-60:

at 50 kill diablo Nightmare and gogo hell a3 keeps 2. The real factor is how high of an mp you can hold. Be very careful cause mp 10 hell is pretty dangerous if your not geared for it. Id say a good DPS to Mp level is: DPS required = mp lvl * 10k, IE mp 10 = 100 k dps. mp 9= 90k dps, etc.

7)60:

kill diablo hell, welcome to inferno.

A few things:
- The ideal gear for lvl 15-60 is cain set (lv23 onwards) and MAX vitality. nothing else matters, stack vitality as much as possible. Shield also of course.
- If you want to go faster you can do arreat and rakkis, but the danger is greater.
- Not all classes are good for powerlevling. barbs and monks are not great for example. The best is WD, and sorc/DH are good too.
- If you dont have vocal, use a signal (like flag drop) so that your party can tell you when something is going wrong.
- If you re really rich, get a leoric (lvl 14 required)
- Do all bosses on mp 0, it doesnt change anything to do them on higher mp.

I guess thats about it, dont hesitate if you have any extra questions. Im also open to your advice and will edit Op if you have some extra info

Thanks for reading!

PS: I know this might seem trivial to some of you, but I definitily believe some people could benefit from knowing this!

PS2: A lot of people disagreed on the duration of each step i put in, so I took it out !

Disagree with some stuff (especially the time). 0-60 can easily be done in under four hours with a competent powerlevel (25-50 should be a bit under an hour, 50-60 a bit under an hour, 1-25 maybe 1.5 hours.)

I got myself from 1-60 with no powerlevel in 7 hours, just using a hellfire + cain + imba gems + level req wep.

With proper gear i totally agree: with big ruby, hellfire and leoric! I think 6hrs is a good mean time if you just have Cain and normal ruby (total cost 250-350 k)

I don't think you understand. Pokebunny is saying he didn't get powerleveled and made it to 60 in 7 hours due to his equipment:
- Hellfire Ring
- Multiple weapons with sockets at X level intervals
- Cain's set
- High level ruby (around flawless star or higher I'd think)

If you have that gear AND have a power-leveler helping you, it should take less than 4 hours for sure.

With Leoric's it should take even quicker!

Regardless, good guide! Obviously some people will be slower and quicker depending on gear and their comfortability with power-leveling.

How much would I have to pay somebody to do this for me on SC?

I'm level 26 now and it's so tedious having to forever cancel cinematics, skip dialogues, run through deserted areas in act and so on. If someone could help me out without takin an arm and a leg off of me, do contact me!

I've always done Arreat 2 for lvling, the scorp packs are insane for xp, although he shielding summoner dudes really slow you down. I'll give keep2 a try, but the banelings make me pretty nervous on high mp hell.

I think Keep 2 is both safer and faster than craters.

At that level, it's far easier to avoid getting hit by a baneling (assuming good powerleveler and attentiveness) than it is a few worms or other loose mobs.

You did a good job and this was well written but honestly I disagree with a lot of it

I use to do power leveling every day with a friend of mine (we kind of ran a power leveling business to make gold), and we could do 1-60 in 2.5 hours with no deaths every time.

For starters they have to be wearing 3 piece Cain's set w/ Vitality on every piece. If they didn't have it we loaned them one of our sets.

Keeps 2 check-point should be the start of every run. Its the highest mob density in act 3, giving you massive kills per minute = XP.

Witch Doctor is undisputed best power-leveler. There are some builds with other classes that can be effective but WD has pets to help tank for the leecher and good blend of move speed options, AoE damage and high DPS.

1-15 (about 50 mins)
-- Keeps 2 MP10
This is the hard part, but as long as they stay 1 room behind you its freaking normal so you 1-shot everything, there is no risk and they get levels super fast cuz its act 3 @ MP10 for a new character.
When they hit level 15 now they can equip gems with massively upgrades their survive-ability because of purples and now you can do MP10 Craters / Rakkis until they hit level 25.

25-50 (about 45 mins)
-- Nightmare MP10 Keeps 2 / Craters / Rakkis Crossing
This is the fastest / easiest part. Rakkis is a great option to add at the end of ur run cuz its a straight shot of 1-shotting Elites and straight lines = very efficient and fast. When they hit 50 go mob on Diablo.

50-60 (about 50 mins)
-- Hell MP10 Keeps 2 / Craters / Rakkis
This can be tricky because you can't do MP10 efficiently unless your character is GFG. But if you have 150k+ dps and max move speed it goes pretty easy / fast.

Anyway that's how we did 1-60 in 2.5 hours for about 15 different characters.

Those worms can be a nightmare. Keeps 2 for life. Sometimes the ranged mobs can cause problems but it shouldn't be too big of a deal if, as you said, the powerleveler is competent.

Ive decided to take out the duration of each step out, as this is the main point people disagree about. I would advise most people to consider 2.5 hrs as an incredibly fast 1-60 and that a safe bet when powerleveling for the first time (this is the people I was aiming for with this guide) is more around 5 hours, which is still pretty damn good!

Concerning 1-25, IIRC without hellfire, its just waaaayyy more efficient and less dangerous to solo to 15. I dont know why but ive felt it always goes slower when i power level before the head ruby, than just letting people get to 15 then power level them. But tbh we are talking maybe a 10-15 min difference and i will definitily give a3 mp 10 normal a shot next time to compare.

For 25-60 I highly disagree, and I m guessing you are basing your experience only on WD. rakkis and crater 2 is a very bad idea if you are playing monk or barb, whereas if you are playing in keeps 2 any class get through pretty easily. Please keep in mind that this is supposed to be a general guide and not the most efficient way.

Id add that the most efficient way, is to ONLY do rakkis, which is n°1 xp/hour spot in the game. Each run is approx 2 minutes and it goes so fast its stupid (and as you dont have NV stacks, it doesnt matter if you just restart every time). But the risk in my opinion is too damn high!

just because you know this so well, i'm going start making you power level me ALL THE TIME. as soon as i reach lvl 60 with another wizard, i'm just going to kill myself and start again, so you can power level me as many times as possible as soon as possible. this is a numbers game, remeber?

also - give me all of your gold. yes, i mean all of it. sure, you can keep some as payment for lvling me, douillos... but to every one else reading this - give me all of your gold! now!

on a more serious note, very nice guide. i've lvld so many wizards now (they keep dying >_<), so i'm always looking for ways to lvl faster. i've found that using caines is fine all the way (even after lvl 60), and just playing through normal and nightmare solo will get you to at least 55 (56ish) without any problems. this will take you maybe eight-nine hours. reaching 60 from 56-57 can take some time though. running act 3 hell will do it pretty quickly, but you will probably need help for this.
for now we see through a mirror in an enigma, but then face to face. now I know in part, but then I shall know as also I was fully known. - 1 corinthians 13:1 (12)

Suggestions for the optimal powerleveling WD build?

I go ghost bomb/acid rain until 50, where I switch to GB/bears. The bears makes things a little less safe in that I can't snipe worms for doods as easily on high MP hell, but elites die muuuuch quicker.
