Did you watch the interview? He said he'd be happy just to qualify for the ro64.

Seems like a nice guy, gl to him.

It's always good to see more foreigners go to Korea and give the GSL a try. GLHF in Korea to SjoW.

Add to that, he's pretty good aswell. Then again, with the recent changes it might be hard to do as a terran.

I support any foreigner willing to make the trip all the way to Korea. This is exactly what we need to make sure this becomes (and stays) and truly global ESPORT. Best of luck to SjoW and anyone else making the trip over to qualify

IDK what the hell the majority of you guys are talking about, take a look at his matchlist here: http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/sc2-international/players/1777_SjoW/games#tblt-6107-2-1-DESC

He takes out top players in bo3 and other series all the time, DIMAGA MorroW darkforce bratok select haypro huk etc.

I think he definitely has at least the talent to qualify, possibly to go further than ro64 as well.

It's good that more foreigners are going to compete in the GSL, but sjow's mechanics are so sub par, and his entire game is dependent upon doing linear, easy, abusive strats, I just can't see him doing anything of note. He is just too ABC and mechanically handicapped.

Good luck though!

I don't think his play is that impressive but you can't argue with his results, he's probably overtaken Morrow as the most succesful player in Europe in recent weeks.

he really stands out to me from all the europeans terrans. not necessarily in achievements but in solid style of play. also i feel like the patch didnt affect him as much as others, just because he uses more thought through strategies.

That's just a ridiculous attitude. Maybe we should all just pack it up and never let anyone go to Korea if their not asian, right?

How does a guy in this thread get banned for joking around about terran OP, but straight racism in the first couple of posts is allowed?

Indeed. Also check out Gosu Gamers match database. Although you cannot view results in single games it makes up for it by having a more complete set of matches than TLPD.

Gotta love Sjows choice of nick!

Anyways in Sweden phonology, "sj" can sound differently depending on which dialect you use and in which context its written, thereby spawning this flurry of confusion.

For example, most swedes I know choose to pronounce his name as "Tchow". + Show Spoiler +
Here using the ɕ sound, similar to the beggining of "chair" but with a t in front, i.e. "tch". Sound example of ɕ..

The latter part is definitely pronounced as "ho" though, the slang for American prostitutes.

This is pretty awesome, can't wait to see more and more foreigners show up for season 3, should be a lot more higher names that we've seen before since MLG and IEM and WCG and all these north american big name stuff will be on hiatus during season 3 GSL.

Sjow is also a freaking amazing player so this is just great to see.

From my perspective, what sets him back is his mechanics. His APM isn't good enough (IMO) to compete with the best in Korea, and as long as his multitasking and mechanics aren't up to scratch to those of say, Hayder, he won't do well.

Hopefully he manages to fix this major problem before he goes to Korea.

It's only natural that the best players go to GSL currently, it's the best tournament for sc2, period. I don't think he's going there to win but to qualify and more importantly, to improve. Playing in Korea and in GSL helps improving. So even if he doesn't win much, he still gains in skill.

if he goes to gsl, he should learn how to scout....but it's his waste of time, not mine

Indeed. Also check out Gosu Gamers match database. Although you cannot view results in single games it makes up for it by having a more complete set of matches than TLPD.

Actually no. It's more like "shof" with the "of" part pronounced exactly how you would pronounce the word "of".

That sounds like "shove" to me

Kinda like a weirdly pronounced "shove".

In English it's actually pronounced "Show" I've asked him many times when casting his games.

So wait, is Beard trolling us when he pronounces it "ho"? I'm so confused.

I knew him when he made that nickname and I'm 99% sure it's pronounced as "show".

As for those who doubt his ability right now, you should see the hours he puts into laddering. I don't believe many people on the EU servers are playing that much. And as of now he's rank #1 on the entire server which is in itself not a bad feat.

Just to settle the discussion. I actually asked him @DSRack Lan just the other day. For us English inclined folks, yes, it's just "show". He also accepts the other pronounciation (the word for lake or something?) for those that feel a need to go Swedish but for most of us it should be "show".

Far more importantly though, SjoW HWAITING!

As many said, you pronounce it as "show". But in swedish you can pronounce it as "schååv" aswell,
I prefer the first ofcourse.

Thx for all the support, im gonna have some pause from sc2 a couple of days now, then im gonna change my hotkeys to more optimal once and improve my macro game and focus on T v P and T v Z.

I don't think how you properly pronounce it is as important as the cute way IU is going to butcher its pronunciation.

Sjow is one of the most under rated players. He is a very strong player and he probably is one of the best terrans in EU. imo he is better than HuK.
