This will be the official map pool POLL for WCG USA Online qualifiers. I am going to close this tonight at 11pm PST and the top 4 maps will be relayed to the WCG USA higher ups.
1. I recognize not everyone voting is american, that is fine, we are scbw players that is better than who we had selecting previously.
2. I recognize some mas may be missing.. that is fine. This map pool will be more extensive, balanced and current than what we had previously.
3. I recognize people may suspect my selections etc as abuse... I assure it isn't but if you feel it is anyways try and avoid derailing this thread as it is important.

If you're trying to find the top 4 maps, don't you think giving each person 1 vote is going to give inaccurate results?

It would be interesting if you threw in some of new Proleague maps, it could make WCG USA very interesting. Also if you're going to put in medusa anyway (3rd in the poll atm), why not try Neo Medusa instead due to its greater balance and it will be a different sight to the medusa we see on iccup day in day out.
Is there a reason the new maps are left out of the poll or just slipped your mind?
Obviously I'm not American, just thoughts on how you might spice up the map pool.

Not exactly perfect since a single person can't select four maps. If it were a multiple selection poll limited to four selections then you would get a much better sense of the overall top four maps.

Just write in your posts the four maps you want if you intend to play. Inc has gone to this much effort to help you guys out... you might as well make some effort if you want WCG to improve.

I think this is working out nicely btw. Destination as the single 1v1 map which is about as balanced as those come.. tau cross/python/othello as the solid standard games all 3 have been wcg maps in the past and all 3 are _fairly_ balanced with some variance in their play.
This is just for online qualification btw.. final maps are still undetermined.

Thanks for doing this, geoff! The map pool as it was showed severe lack of concern. In the interest of balance between maps I think are good/balanced/worth playing and that would be good for getting practice partners I'd say these:
Andromeda, Chupung, Tau Cross and Colosseum.

Destination, Neo Medusa, Colosseum II
Destination and Colosseum II AFAIK were Courage Maps, and Neo Medusa is an upgrade on Medusa which is also a Courage map.
With the new PL maps though I think the Courage Maps are Destination, Neo Medusa and God's Garden (I may be terribly wrong though).

The map features are boring, but it actually does not produce too many boring games...in fact, many of the greatest games I've seen recently have been on Andromeda (Sea vs. Jaedong, Bisu vs. Jaedong, JD vs. Mind, Much vs. Flash was fun...).
Plus, for WCG USA I think the focus should be on balanced maps that will produce the strongest player to compete at WCG, not maps that will result in entertaining games (most of the games aren't even casted!).

I'd have to go with python, tau, athena, and peaks, just because I don't really know the other maps. I plan on doing WCG this year so I have my own interests in mind...no clue about the balance of the other maps. If you're going for balance, why not throw nostalgia or ROV into the map pool?
