good call on this, i know for sure italy would have called 3 or 4 players from u21, as for spain i guess it should be the same, which are the youngsters from spain that could've been called? I only know Bojan

Spain doesn't have any promising youngsters in their u21 squad, Italy are the big favourites to win it I think.
Germany has nice players too

lol that is a weak argument Pape. Spain may be off a long season but the only players on the pitch today that is in MLS is Ricardo Clark and Donovan. The only real fresh face that played today was Bocanegra and he's coming off injury. Not to mention Altidore is out of form from surgery and Spector has been on and off injury for forever.
The USA is a physical team, there's no denying that. Conditioning is one of our real true strength (surprise surprise, US produces great athletes) but look at this stat: http://www.fifa.com/confederationscup/statistics/players/distanceandspeed.html 6 out of the top 7 most distance covered is by the USA. Even if you take away the 4th game, the top 3 spots still belongs to Bradley, Dempsey, and Donovan. Only Xavi cracked the top ten. The US chases every game they play so believe me when I say they're tired. Plus Spain got to rest 3 days and US only two lol.
Now it's true that the US cares much more about beating Spain then vice-versa.

You say that, but look at the Spanish team.

Yeah, it wasn't a red. Nor of the three they got were. How the fuck does a ref kick somebody out of a final with such a red card? It's retarded.
Spain wasn't able to find a way to score and USA had the luck needed to score with their chances, that's football.
I hope Brazil loses against SA, I want a Spain vs Brazil so badly =(
Spanish U21 that could or have been with the top team: Bojan (striker), Capel (winger), Jurado (Offensive Middlefielder), Raúl García (Middlefielder), Granero (Offensive Middlefielder/fake winger)

WOW what an upset. Well played USA.

I watched their games, I rate on performances not clubs.
but yeah, I take it back, Spain has good young players
|
So playing at la Liga the whole season is pointless, it's more valuable 3 bad matches to rate them.
I think you're in a bad mood.

I know capel and bojan and they're pretty good, I expecially like capel, i think he's underrated, i don't know the others but i don't follow a lot la Liga, anyway, considering the talents that the major team has in the bench (silva, mata, cazorla..) i don't think you have to worry about lack of talents

Capel is the next big player that Real Madrid and Barcelona will be fighting for..

Sadly our wing daggers Silva and Iniesta were injured =/ well, that's football. I think is a good thing we didn't win this, they would have felt too confident otherwise.
What really pisses me off is that I've been watching this shity tournament to watch a Brazil vs Spain T_T

But it´s ok to fail
We were like in clouds from Eurocup´s success, so it´s time to get back to earth and still learn a bit of defeat
And still I feel optimistic for this great young generation we have

imo Spain really neededed Silva and Iniesta. To give more posession and create chances in U.S defence and at least try to break it with balls to their strikers, which was almost impossible in that game. Neverless give Bob Bradley all the credit, very discipline tactically and effective played by the us, very excited for the final

Damn I was so mad at Del Bosque. He is really a wuss. At min 75 or so he should have pulled out Capdevila for Lorente and play 3-4-3 with ramos as central defender. US had no more forwards on the field and they weren't even trying to counter anymore!
EDIT: about the spain's young players discussion: who of the U21 team would have been in the confecup? Mata is U21 and he took a possible Capel spot just because Iniesta wasn't playing. I think none of the current U21 players in spain deserve a spot with the Absolute team.
|
I know nothing about soccer so that might explain why this Q is dumb but, why doesn't the US team play Freddy Adu more? Isn't he supposed to be a really good young player? I would think getting him as much experience vs good teams as possible would be good for his development. Not to mention what he can bring to the table.
